Study On Plaque Removal Effect And Cleaning Power Of Toothbrushes With Different Hardness

OBJECTIVE:To analyze the related factors that affect the hardness of the bristles.By comparing the plaque removal effects of toothbrushes with different hardness and different materials,the influence of toothbrushes on the effect of brushing teeth was studied,and residents were instructed to choose the right toothbrush according to the situation.METHODS:1.The bristle diameters of different toothbrushes were measured,and the relevant parameters of the toothbrush were measured,and the hardness of the toothbrush was calculated through the relevant parameters,and the correlation between the toothbrush diameter and the hardness of the toothbrush was analyzed.2.Ten toothbrushes of four different bristles with different hardness were selected,and were divided into four groups of A,B,C,and D in order of hardness.The research object is4 groups of volunteers,10 in each group.The modified Navy plaque index score was modified by Rustugi and others,and the plaque index of the lip and cheek was recorded before and after brushing.3.In addition,14 toothbrush with nylon bristle and toothbrush with tapered filament of the same manufacturer and the same specifications were selected.The experimenter randomly selected two toothbrushes for each group of 14 brushes.Using the same method as above to detect plaque removal.4.Using the in vitro brushing module to obtain the cleaning power images of the above four kinds of toothbrushes with different hardness before and after brushing,the cleaning power images of toothbrush with nylon bristle and toothbrush with tapered filament before and after brushing.And using the gray area of the image to analysis data.Finally,the cleaning power value of the toothbrush was calculatedRESULTS:1.Correlation analysis showed that there was no obvious correlation between the diameter and hardness of toothbrush with nylon bristle and toothbrush with tapered filament(P > 0.05).However,the monofilament hardness and monofilament diameter of the toothbrush showed a significant positive correlation in toothbrush with nylon bristle(r =0.862,P = 0.001).2.The average plaque index of four different hardness toothbrushes after brushing was significantly lower than that before brushing(P <0.05).The plaque clearance rate of four different hardness toothbrushes was only significantly different in the smooth surface area of anterior teeth,in which group A was significantly higher than group D(P < 0.05).And there was no significant difference in the plaque clearance rate of the four toothbrushes with different hardness in the gingival margin area and adjacent gap area(P > 0.05).3.Toothbrush with nylon bristle and toothbrush with tapered filament of the same specifications produced by the same manufacturer had a significantly lower average plaque index after brushing than before brushing(P < 0.05).The plaque clearance rate of toothbrush with nylon bristle was higher than that of toothbrush with tapered filament in different areas such as the smooth surface area of anterior teeth,the gingival margin area and the adjacent gap area(P < 0.05).4.The results of simulated brushing experiments of four toothbrushes with different bristles showed that the cleaning power value of group A was significantly higher than that of groups C and D(P < 0.05);the cleaning power value obtained by image analysis method and the bacteria in the oral brushing test The results of spot clearance were basically consistent.Toothbrush with nylon bristle and toothbrush with tapered filament simulated tooth brushing test results showed that the cleaning power value of toothbrush with nylon bristle was significantly higher than that of toothbrush with tapered filament(P < 0.05),which was consistent with the results of plaque clearance rate in the oral brushing test.CONCLUSION:1.The plaque index of toothbrushes with different hardness and different materials after brushing was significantly lower than before brushing.2.The higher the hardness of the toothbrush,the better the plaque removal effect on the smooth surface area of the front teeth.3.The plaque removal effect of the same specification toothbrush with nylon bristle produced by the same manufacturer was obviously better than that of the toothbrush with tapered filament.4.The method of detecting the cleaning force value of the image outside the mouth was consistent with the result of the plaque removal rate of the intraoral brushing.The cleaning force detection method was easy to detect the cleaning effectiveness of the toothbrush and could be used to guide the selection of the toothbrush.
