Objectives: To explore the value of neutrophil lymphocyte ratio(NLR)in predicting the severity of disease in patients with diabetes and community-acquired pneumonia(CAP).Methods: From January 2018 to December 2019,we retrospectively analyzed clinical data of CAP patients with diabetes who were hospitalized in Shengjing Hospital, affiliated to China Medical University.General patient data, basic diseases, vital signs, laboratory tests, and imaging studies were performed. Results were analyzed by univariate analysis. We drew ROC curve and calculated correlation coefficient to evaluate NLR effectiveness. Results: A total of 635 patients were enrolled, including 77 severe pneumonia cases and 558 non-severe pneumonia cases.ROC curve results showed that the area under the curve for predicting the severity of diabetic patients with CAP in NLR was 0.827,and the optimal cutoff was 4.93.NLR is positively correlated with CURB-65 and PSI scores. Conclusions: There is a significant difference between NLR and severe cases.NLR has predictive value for the severity of pneumonia in patients, and has a clear correlation with CURB-65 score and PSI score.
