Objective:To investigate the prevalence of behavior problems and its influence on social competence in adolescents aged 12-16 years in Shandong Province,so as to provide reference for mental health work of children and adolescents in Shandong Province.Methods:1917 adolescents aged 12-16 years from 16 cities of Shandong Province were investigated by multi-stage hierarchical cluster random sampling method and assessed with Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist(CBCL).Microsoft Excel 2007 software was used to establish database and input data.Descriptive statistical analysis,?2 test,t test, variance analysis,Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze the prevalence of children's behavior problems and its influence on social competence. All analysis were performed using SPSS 22.0 and significance was set at the P<0.05 level.Results:1.The total detection rate of behavioral problems in adolescents was 14.97%and 12.37%in boys, which was lower than that in girls(18.29%).The difference was statistically significant(?2=12.989,P<0.01).Among adolescents of different ages, the detection rate of behavioral problems decreased with the increase of age, with the highest detection rate of 18.40%in the 12-year-old group and the lowest detection rate of 10.62%in the 16-year-old group. The strong negative correlation between age and behavioral problems was statistically significant(?2=-0948,P<0.05).2.The detection rate of behavioral problems in urban adolescents was 12.16%,that in rural areas was 15.8%,and there was no significant difference in the detection rate between urban and rural areas(?2=3.514,P>0.05).The detection rate of only child(14.98%)and non-only child(14.97%)was similar, and the difference was not statistically significant(?2=0.001,P>0.05%).The detection rate of adolescent behavioral problems with poor family financial condition was 30.82%,which was significantly higher than that of the affluent(15.53%)and general families(13.41%)adolescents,and the difference was statistically significant(?2=34.543,P<0.01).The detection rate of behavioral problems in adolescents under parental care was 14.40%,significantly lower than that of children under non-parental care(23.53%),and the difference was statistically significant(?2=7.30,P<0.01).The detection rate of behavioral problems was 14.76%among adolescents whose parents were married and 20.90%among adolescents whose parents were divorced, and the difference was statistically significant(?2=1.914,P>0.05).3.The detection rate of internalizing behavior problem in boys aged 12-16 years in Shandong Province was 8.84%,the detection rate of externalizing behavior problem was 7.35%,and the detection rate of each behavior problem was between 1.21%and 5.49%,among which the detection rate of hyperactivity problem was the highest. The detection rate of girls' internalizing behavior problem is 14.13%,the detection rate of externalizing behavior problem is 7.60%,and the detection rate of each behavior problem is between 2.61%and 6.77%,among which the detection rate of body complaint problem is the highest. The detection rate of body complaint, violation of discipline in girls was higher than that in boys, and the difference was statistically significant(?2=41.547,4.622,P<0.05),and there was no significant gender difference in the detection rate of other behavioral problems(P>0.05).4.Among the adolescents with behavioral problems,41.11%of them had multiple behavioral problems,49.62%of the boys and 33.77%of the girls, the difference in the coexistence rate between genders was statistically significant(?2=7.413,P<0.01).5.Compared with non-behavioral adolescents, the scores of activity, associates ability and learning ability were lower, and the difference of scores between them was statistically significant(P<0.01).Compared with the undetected adolescents, the social ability scores of adolescents with internalizing behavior problems were low,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).Compared with the undetected adolescents, the social ability scores of adolescents with externalizing behavior problems were low,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).6.Boys with immature or hyperactive problems were significantly lower in activity scores than boys without detection, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Boys with body complaints, poor communication, immaturity, compulsion, hostility, disciplinary violations, aggression and hyperactivity problems had significantly lower scores on associate ability than boys without detection of the problem(P<0.05).Boys with body complaints, poor communication, immaturity, hostility, violation of discipline, aggression or hyperactivity problems were found to have significantly lower learning ability scores than boys without detection, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).For girls with immaturity, disciplinary and hostile issues, the activity ability score was significantly lower than that of girls without detection, and the difference in score was statistically significant(P<0.05).Girls who were detected depression, immaturity, disciplinary violations, aggression or cruelty problems, the score of associate ability was significantly lower than that of girls who were not detected, and the difference in score was statistically significant(P<0.05).Girls who were detected immaturity, disciplinary or cruelty problems the learning ability score was significantly lower than that of girls without detection, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).7.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that hyperactivity was the main behavioral problem affecting the activity ability of boys aged 12-16;bad communication, hostility and discipline violation were the main behavioral problems affecting boys' associate ability;and discipline violation, hostility and hyperactivity were the main behavioral problems affecting boys' learning ability.Anxiety compulsion and immaturity are the main behavioral problems that affect the activity ability of girls aged 12-16;anxiety compulsion, immaturity, discipline violation and cruelty are the main behavioral problems that affect girls' associate ability;discipline violation, hostility and hyperactivity are the main behavioral problems that affect girls' learning ability.Conclusions1.The prevalence of behavior problems among children aged 12-16 in Shandong Province is 14.97%.The behavioral problems of girls and low-age adolescents are more prominent.Poor family finances and adolescents who are not under the care of their parents are more vulnerable to behavioral problems.2.The incidence of internalizing behavior problems in adolescents is higher than externalizing behavior problems, which is more obvious in girls. The behavioral problems with higher detection rate in boys include:hyperactivity, schizoid, poor communication and aggression. The behavioral problems with higher detection rate in girls include:physical complaints, disciplinary violations, schizoid and depression. The coexistence of multiple behavioral problems is more common among adolescents with behavioral problems, which is more pronounced among boys.3.Adolescents with behavioral problems are less socially competent than those without behavioral problems.4.Behavior problems affecting the social competence of boys aged 12-16 include:poor communication, hostility, discipline violations and hyperactivity.Behavior problems affecting the social competence of girls aged 12-16 include:anxiety compulsion, immaturity, hostility, hyperactivity, discipline violation and cruelty.
