Objective: To investigate the expression of Vimentin in human endometrial carcinoma, its relationship with the clinicopathologic features,ER and PR expression and prognosis of endometrial carcinoma. Methods: The expression of Vimentin in endometrial carcinoma tissues and normal endometrial tissues was detected by western-blot.The expression of Vimentin,ER and PR in 85 cases of endometrial carcinoma tissues with complete follow-up were detected by immunohistochemistry.50 cases of normal endometrial tissues were used as control. To analyze the differential expression of Vimentin in endometrial carcinoma and normal endometrial tissue. The relationship between Vimentin expression and the clinicopathological features of endometrial carcinoma and the expression of ER and PR was analyzed.Meanwhile, the relationship between Vimentin expression and prognostic risk factors such as age, pathological grade, lesion size and muscle infiltration depth was analyzed in 51 patients with stage I endometrial carcinoma. The relationship between Vimentin and the prognosis of endometrial adenocarcinoma was analyzed by Kaplan-Meier method. Results: The expression of Vimentin in endometrial carcinoma tissues was significantly higher than that in normal endometrial tissues by western-blot.Immunohistochemical results show that the Vimentin positive expression rate of protein in endometrial carcinoma tissue(55/85,64.71%)than normal endometrial tissue,42.00%(21/50),and significant difference(P = 0.010 < 0.05)in 85 example adenocarcinoma tissue intrauterine membrane samples,Vimentin expression and whether patients with menopause, muscular pathological staging, the degree of differentiation, infiltration depth difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).In 51 cases of stage I endometrial carcinoma, the expression of Vimentin was correlated with pathological grade, depth of muscle infiltration, lesion size and other risk factors, and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).In endometrial carcinoma tissues, high expression of Vimentin and low expression of ER and PR were statistically significant(P<0.05).In Kaplan-Meier survival analysis,we found that Vimentin levels were not associated with patient outcome. Conclusion: Vimentin is highly expressed in endometrial carcinoma, especially in endometrial carcinoma with low expression of ER and PR,suggesting that it may be involved in the occurrence and development of endometrial adenocarcinoma.
