Objective: To investigate the expression and relationship of thrombospondin-1(TSP-1),sonic hedgehog protein(SHH)and hedgehog interaction protein(HHIP)in mucoepidermoid carcinoma(MEC)tissues. It will provide a certain experimental basis for the diagnosis and treatment of MEC.Methods: From January 2010 to December 2017,41 cases of MEC paraffin specimens from oral and maxillofacial surgery in Suining Central Hospital and 10 cases of normal salivary gland tissue(control group)were selected. The expression of TSP-1,SHH and HHIP in the two groups was detected by S-P immunohistochemical staining, and the positive cells were counted under 400-fold microscope in five fields randomly selected from the experimental and control groups, and the positive expression rate and staining intensity were counted. The pathological differentiation degree and clinical stages of the three groups and MEC tissues were analyzed,as well as the relationship between clinicopathological features.Chi-square test was used for counting data, and Gamma method was used to analyze the correlation between two protein expressions. The test level was α=0.05.Results: The positive expression rates of TSP-1,SHH and HHIP protein in MEC group were 68.3%,53.7% and 70.7%,which were significantly increased than those of control group(10%)(P < 0.05);Moreover,the positive expression rates of TSP-1 protein decreased with the increase of malignant degree of MEC(P < 0.05);the positive expression rates of SHH protein increased with the increase of malignant degree of MEC(P < 0.05);the expression rate was the lowest in highly malignant MEC tissues(P < 0.05).TSP-1 was negatively correlated with SHH protein expression, positively correlated with HHIP protein expression, and negatively correlated with SHH and HHIP protein expression(P <0.05).Conclusions: The expression levels of TSP-1,HHIP and SHH in MEC tissues were higher than those in normal salivary glands, and correlated with the pathological classification and clinical features of MEC.It can provide basis for clinical diagnosis and targeted therapy of MEC.
