BACKGROUND: Malnutrition is due to the lack of one or more nutrients or excess nutrients caused by poor nutrition.It is generally occurs in all types of elderly hospitalized people.It is one of the most important factors associated with obstucting gerontal health.Malnutrition is also an important prognostic indicator of the disease morbidity and mortality.Statistical regression analysis was used to evaluate and study the gerontal patients’ nutrition status and the risk factors in this study.METHODS: The general status of undergraduate hospital admissions,the diagnosis of hospitalization and the results of related examination during hospitalization were collected.NRS2002 nutritional status assessment tool was used to evaluate the nutritional status of elderly inpatients(at lease 65 years old).The general situation,the diagnosis of hospital admission and the relevant auxiliary examination results during the hospital were perfomrd for single factor and multi-factor comprehensive analysis to find out the related risk factors of the malnutrition in elderly hospitalized people.RESULTS: The risk factors of malnutrition occurred in 71.4% the elderly patients,of whtich dysphagia,chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD),and low albumin levels were associated with high risk factors for high malnutrition in elderly hospitalized patients.CONCLUSIONS: 1.The risk factors of malnutrition were found in 71.4% of the elderly patients in our department.2.Dysphagia,COPD,and low albumin levels are independent risk factors for malnutrition in elderly hospitalized patients.
