The Relationship Between The Risk Of Pancreatic Cancer And Diabetes Mellitus:A Meta-Analysis

Objective Try to analysis the the relationship between the risk of pancreatic cancer and diabetes.Methods A literature search that used the term Pancreatic cancer,Pancreatic Neoplasms,pancreatic carcinoma,diabetes mellitus was performed by searching electronic databases for studies published between January 1,2013 to December 31,2017 and the total number,events number of case and control,duration of diabetes,Odds ratios(0Rs),Relative risk(RRs)and corresponding 95% confidence intervals(CIs)were calculated.According to the Meta analysis method,Review Manager 5.3 software was used to summarize and analyze the included studies on risk factors of pancreatic cancer,and subgroup analysis was conducted according to the duration of diabetes.Before to analysis,using the newcastle-ottawa scale to evaluate the quality of each selected article and testing the original research data for consistency through Q test.If those date with heterogeneity(P<0.05,I2>50%),Random Effect Model(RX)was selected;For those with low heterogeneity(P > 0.05,50% of I2 <50%),Fixed Effect Model(FX)was used for calculation.Results In totally including 11 articles,12 groups.The overall summary estimate for the relationship between the population with diabetes and PC was 2.07(95% CI,1.69 2.54).The pooled RR(95% CI)of PC for the population with a duration of diabetes <1 year,<2years,2-5 years,5 years,and >10 years was 4.07(3.02-5.47),2.92(2.13-4.02),5.49(0.69-43.73),1.60(0.91-2.80),and 9.71(0.15-646.90).The total OR(95%)CI of the 5subgroups was 3.83(2.21,6.64).Conclusion Diabetes may increase the risk of pancreatic cancer,especially innew-onset diabetes.
