Correlation Between Lymphocyte To Monocyte Ratio And Clinical Characteristics And Prognosis Of Colorectal Cancer | Posted on:2019-03-10 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:C Zhou | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2404330590989989 | Subject:Surgery | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Study Background: Colorectal cancer(CRC)is one of the most serious diseases that threaten human health.Recent studies have found that inflammation is closely related to the occurrence,development and prognosis of colorectal cancer.Lymphocytes and monocytes are important inflammatory cells in human body.The lymphocyte to monocyte ratio(LMR),to some extent,can reflect the body’s systemic inflammatory response(SIR)and immune function,which was combined by above two cells.The current study found that LMR is closely correlated with the prognosis of a variety of gastrointestinal cancer.Therefore,LMR may play a vital role in the occurrence,development and prognosis of colorectal cancer.Objective: To investigate the correlation between preoperative peripheral blood lymphocyte monocyte ratio(LMR)and clinical characteristics and prognosis of colorectal cancer patients.Method: The clinical and pathological data of 218 cases of patients with colorectal cancer in the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery Renji Hospital from January2010 to May 2012 were analyzed.According to the results of receiver operating characteristic curve analysis in SPSS 19.0 software,the optimal cut-off value of5-year survival was predicted and the patients were accordingly divided into low LMR and high LMR groups.The characteristics differences between two groups were analyzed;the survival rate was calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method and the differences were compared by the Log-rank test.In the end,the Cox proportional hazards model was used to analyze the prognostic factors for colorectal cancer.Results: The optimal cut-off value that predict 5-year survival rate was 4.7 and the colorectal cancer patients were divided into two groups,namely high LMR group(LMR>4.7)and low group(LMR≤4.7).The differences of clinical stage and T stage in two groups were statistically significant(p<0.05).The 5-year overall survival rates were 72.2% and 48.6% in patients with high LMR and low LMR group(p=0.008).Univariate prognostic analysis showed that clinical stage,N stage,preoperative carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)and LMR were associated with survival of colorectal cancer patients(p<0.05).Multivariate analysis confirmed that preoperative peripheral blood LMR was an independent prognostic factor of colorectal cancers patients.Conclusions:Preoperative LMR≤4.7 means a poor prognosis for colorectal cancer patients and preoperative LMR can be used as an independent prognostic factor in patients with colorectal cancer. | Keywords/Search Tags: | colorectal cancer, lymphocyte to monocyte ratio, inflammatory microenvironment, preoperative evaluation, prognosis | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
