Health Literacy Analysis Of Soldiers In An Ordnance Warehouse In Hunan And Its Intervention Evaluation Based On PRECEDE-PROCEED Model

Objectives:(1)To understand the health literacy level of soldiers in the ordnance warehouse;(2)To analyze the influencing factors of the health literacy of the soldiers in the ordnance warehouse;(3)To evaluate of the PRECEDE-PROCEED model to improve the health literacy level of the ordnance warehouse soldiers.Methods:This research object consists of 160 soldiers in the ordnance warehouses in a certain area of Hunan from January to September 2018.Under the guidance of the PRECEDE-PROCEED Model theory framework,a questionnaire survey was conducted to understand the health literacy level of the soldiers,the influencing factors of health literacy,and health needs.Based on the baseline needs assessment,a six-month health education was conducted to compare the soldiers'health literacy before and after the intervention.The level of health literacy was used to evaluate the effect of the PRECEDE-PROCEED Model health literacy intervention.Results:(1)The health literacy rate of baseline survey is 26.03%;and the three-dimensional literacy rate is from high to low:basic knowledge and concept account for 52.74%,healthy lifestyle and behavior account for26.71%,and health skills account for 13.01%;The five types of health problems from high to low are:scientific health view accounted for 38.36%,safety and first aid accounted for 32.88%,chronic disease control accounted for 31.51%,infectious disease control accounted for 24.66%,basic medical treatment accounted for 6.16%;(2)Soldiers'health literacy influencing factors Uni-variate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in age,military age,military rank, marital status,one-child status,ethnicity,job status,education level,and personal income(P<0.05).There was no significant statistical difference between the source of the soldiers and the family income(P?0.05).Binary logistic regression shows that military rank,only child,ethnicity,education level and personal monthly income are the main influencing factors of health literacy;(3)85.7%of soldiers said“often”or “sometimes”to participate in military health education;93.84%of the soldiers in the health education received military training and injury knowledge education,and 86.30%of the soldiers received safety and first aid knowledge,61.64%of the soldiers have received mental health knowledge education;(4)Among the 22 health knowledge,10 demand for health knowledge exceeded 90%,and the top three health knowledge needs were 93.84%for common disease prevention,93.15%for camping,and 92.47%for training injury;(5)Basic health behaviors of soldiers:52.05%have smoking behavior,17.12%have drinking habits,30.14%sleep for less than 6 hours,27.21%have BMI above normal range;(6)After the intervention,the health literacy rate of soldiers was 78.26%.The basic knowledge and concept,healthy lifestyle and behavior,and the three-dimensional literacy of health skills were 88.70%,77.39%,and 67.83%,respectively.Scientific health concept,prevention of infectious diseases,The availability of five types of health problems such as chronic disease prevention,safety and first aid,and basic medical care is 76.52%,80.87%,80.87%,70.43%,and 67.83%.(7)The?~2 test showed that the overall health literacy of soldiers after intervention,The literacy rate of the three-dimensional literacy and the five types of health problems was higher than that before the intervention,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:(1)The level of health literacy of the soldiers of the arsenal in the area needs to be improved;the rank,the only child,the nationality,the educational level and the personal monthly income are the main influencing factors of the soldiers'health literacy.(2)Soldiers have a wide range of health knowledge needs;and some soldiers have bad habits.(3)Health education based on PRECEDE-PROCEED model can effectively improve the health literacy level of soldiers.After intervention,the health literacy rate,three-dimensional literacy rate and five types of health literacy rate of soldiers are significantly improved.
