Objective: Analyzing the etiology and risk factors of urinary tract infection in children with neurogenic bladder,to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections for the later rehabilitation treatment. Methods: The clinical data of 49 patients with neurogenic bladder who were hospitalized in the rehabilitation department of Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from January 2015 to January 2019 were retrospectively reviewed, for concluding the urinary tract infection rate, etiology, clinical features and risk factors. Results: Twenty-eight of the 49 children developed urinary tract infection(infection rate 57.14%).The most common pathogens were Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis, respectively accounting for 35.90% and 20.52%.There were significant differences in the incidence of urinary tract infections in children with neurogenic bladder in age(years),total hospital stay(days),number of hospitalizations(times),indwelling catheterization time(days),bladder type, and whether or not the underlying dis-ease was associated(P<0.05);there was a significant correlation between indwelling catheterization time(days)and urinary tract infection(P<0.05).Conclusion: The incidence of urinary tract infection is high in children with neurogenic bladder.Indwelling catheterization is an independent risk factor for urinary tract infection in children with neurogenic bladder. For children of younger, longer hospital stay, repeated hospitalization, urinary retention, and underlying diseases, need to be highly alert to the occurrence of urinary tract infections. |
