ObjectiveEvaluate the efficacy and safety of the characteristic massage of thumb metacarpophalangeal joint based on MTrPs theory in the treatment of cervical back, and in order to provide research evidence for the clinical promotion of thi s therapy and the characteristic massage of thumb metacarpophalangeal joint.MethodsSeventy-two patients with cervical back myofascitis were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,36 patients in each group. The treatment group was treated with the characteristic massage of peng’s thumb metacarpophalangeal joint, while the control group was treated with conventional massage.Patients in both groups were treated once every other day,6 times for a course of treatment, and a total of two courses of treatment were taken.Follow-up was conducted at 1 month after the completion of the treatment.Visual analogue score(VAS)and The Neek Disability Index score(NDI)were used as the outcome measures. Each group was evaluated before treatment,at the end of the first course,at the end of the second course, and one month after treatment. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated by nimodipine scoring method, and the differences of curative effect between the two groups were compared.Results1.Baseline datas of the two groups before treatment:There was no significant difference in sex, age, course of disease,VAS and NDI scores between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).2.Therapeutic outcome:(1)Comparison between groups:The total effective rate of the treatment group was 94.12% and the cure-re markable-effectiveness rate was 58.82%.The total effective rate in the control g roup was 82.35%,and the cure-remarkable-effectiveness rate was 32.35%.There was no significant difference in the total effective rate between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05),but the difference in the cure-remarkable-effectiveness r ate was statistically significant(P<0.05).The overall efficacy of the two groups was similar, but the treatment group was significantly better than the control gro up in terms of the cure-remarkable-effectiveness rate.VAS and NDI scores at th e end of the first course and the second course, the differences between the tw o groups were statistically significant(P<0.01),and the treatment group was supe rior to the control group. The differences in VAS(P<0.01)and NDI scores(P<0.05)between the two groups at the time of follow-up(compared with before treat ment)were statistically significant. Moreover, the improvement of VAS and NDI scores in the treatment group was better than that in the control group.(2)Intra-group comparison:VAS and NDI scores of patients in both groups showed a downward trend with the passage of treatment time. The difference was statistically significant after 1 course of treatment(compared with that before treatment)and after 2 co urses of treatment(compared with that after 1course of treatment)(P<0.01).The r esults suggested that VAS and NDI scores of patients in the two groups weregradually improved over time.Conclusions1.Both of the two therapies can achieve good efficacy in the treatment of cervical back myofascitis, and can effectively improve the symptoms of patient s.2.The thumb metacarpophalangeal joint massage on MTrPs is obviously be tter than the conventional massage in the improvement of pain and function,an d the maintenance effect of curative effect is better. |
