Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder. The incidence of schizophrenia is on the rise all over the world.Schizophrenia is the most stigmatized disease among mental disorders, which brings great difficulties to the rehabilitation of patients.Previous studies on schizophrenia mostly used quantitative research methods, mainly focused on the treatment of diseases, rarely used qualitative research methods, less attention to patients themselves, revealing the inner world of schizophrenia patients. In the research of eliminating stigma with contact intervention, the quantitative research method is also used more, and the qualitative method is less used to study its process. This research adopts the method of narrative inquiry.A researcher himself contacts a schizophrenic patient who has been ill for more than 40 years, records the inner changes of the researcher himself in the process of contacting, and shows that the process includes four stages:seeing the sick but not seeing the human;the sick before the human;the sick before the disease;the sick is the sick and the human is the human.Through presenting the patient’s experience in 40 years of illness, including drug therapy, insulin coma therapy, electroconvulsive therapy and stereotactic brain surgery,we can show the changes and problems in the treatment of schizophrenia in the past 40 years in China. On the other hand, the views of the people around us,including three doctors,a nurse, the mother of the patient and an aunt sweeping the floor, are also presented. In order to reveal the different views on the same schizophrenia from different perspectives and their interaction with patients, explore the plight of the patient in rehabilitation, and help readers better understand the life and inner world of a schizophrenic patient.
