| objective:to investigate the correlation between serum neuron specific enolase(NSE)and herpes zoster pain.Methods:The serum levels of NSE were measured in 73 patients with herpes zoster(observation group)before and after treatment(4 weeks,6 weeks)and 73 healthy controls(control group).Statistical software was used for statistical processing.Results:Among the 253 patients collected,the youth group(38.74%),the middle-aged group(28.85%),the elderly group(32.41%);Among the 73 patients enrolled,the young group(49.32%),the middle-aged group(21.92%)and the elderly group(28.76%)were included.With HZ patients before and after treatment(4 weeks)of serum NSE level was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).After4 weeks,the serum NSE level in the pain-free group decreased compared with that before treatment(P<0.05).However,the serum NSE level after treatment in the pain group after 4 weeks decreased compared with that before treatment(P>0.05).Serum NSE levels before and after treatment in the pain group after 4 weeks were higher than those before and after treatment in the pain-free group after 4 weeks,respectively.VAS score of pain before and after treatment was positively correlated with serum NSE(r=0.473,r=0.404,P<0.001).After 6 weeks follow-up,only 8patients completed the experiment,6 with pain and 2 without pain.Serum NSE levels were(31.60±10.41,21.25±4.20,26.10±7.63)μg/L and VAS scores were(7.00±2.45,3.00±0.00,6.50±2.59)in 6 patients with pain before treatment,4 weeks after and 6weeks after,respectively.The difference of serum NSE level before and after treatment(4 weeks)was statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum NSE level after 6weeks increased compared with that after 4 weeks(P>0.05).In 2 patients without pain serum NSE levels were(29.99±8.05,23.67±4.76,13.28±2.48)μg/L before treatment,4 weeks after and 6 weeks after respectively.Serum NSE level before treatment washigher than that after 4 weeks and 6 weeks.There were no statistically significant differences in serum NSE among different ages,disease sites,skin lesions,and treatment time(P>0.05).Conclusion:The age of onset of herpes zoster tends to be younger and the number of young people with herpes zoster increases.Serum NSE level was significantly increased in the early stage of herpes zoster,and changes in NSE level could reflect the process of herpes zoster nerve injury and recovery.NSE may have a predictive effect on long-term HZ pain,and long-term maintenance of a high level or even higher than before may not be conducive to the recovery of HZ pain nerve injury. |
