Background Vascular dementia is the only preventable dementia nowadays, which makes the early diagnosis and intervention of vascular cognitive impairment particularly important. At present, there is no objective and effective serological biomarker for vascular cognitive impairment. However, combined with the level changes of several biomarkers related to multiple pathogenesis,it is helpful for the early diagnosis and prognosis evaluation of VCIND and VAD.Objective To study the correlation of serum thioredoxin in patients with vascular cognitive impairment and provide new serum biomarkers for early diagnosis and intervention of vascular cognitive impairment. Methods 86 patients with cerebrovascular diseases, including 55 patients with normal cognitive function and 31 patients with cognitive impairment(VCI group)。Among the VCI group,16 were dementia patients(Va D group)and 15 were non-dementia patients(VCIND group).,hospitalized in the Department of Neurology,Bethune First Hospital,Jilin University from January 2018 to January 2019 were included into study. At admission, patients were assessed with Mo CA,MMSE,HIS,CDR.The levels of serum total cholesterol and triglyceride were measured and the levels of Trx-1 and Trx-2 in serum samples were measured by ELISA.Results 1.Compared with the normal cognitive function group, the serum Trx-1 and Trx-2 levels in Va D group were higher, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).2.Compared with the normal cognitive function group, the serum Trx-2 level in VCIND group was higher, the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in the serum Trx-1 level between the two groups(P > 0.05).3.Compared with VCIND group, the serum Trx-2 level in Va D group was higher, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in the serum Trx-1 level between the two groups(P > 0.05).4.In VCI group, there was no correlation between Mo CA score and serum Trx-1 concentration(P > 0.05).5.In VCI group,Mo CA score was negatively correlated with serum Trx-2 concentration(P < 0.005,r=-0.540).6.5.In VCI group, there was no correlation between MMSE score and serum Trx-1 concentration(P > 0.05).7.In VCI group,MMSE score was negatively correlated with serum Trx-2 concentration(P < 0.005,r=-0.526).8.In the normal cognitive function group, the scores of neuropsychological scales were not correlated with the serum Trx-1 and Trx-2 levels(all P > 0.05).9.There was no correlation between serum total cholesterol, triglyceride and neuropsychological scale scores among the three groups(P > 0.05).10.There was no significant difference in total cholesterol and triglyceride among the three groups(P > 0.05).Conclusions 1.Among the patients with cerebrovascular disease, the serum Trx-2 concentration from high to low was: Va D,VCIND and normal cognitive function.2.In VCI patients, the higher the degree of cognitive impairment, the lower the serum Trx-2 level.3.Compared with traditional biomarkers(total cholesterol and triglyceride),serum Trx level can better reflect the cognitive impairment of VCI patients. |
