ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of narrative nursing on psychological distress, coping style and quality of life of chemotherapy patients with malignant tumor, and provide practical reference for further promotion of narrative nursing in clinical nursing work.MethodsA total of 86 cases of malignant tumor patients undergoing chemotherapy from the department of oncology of a Three-A hospital in Zhengzhou city were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the intervention group by drawing lots(43 cases in each group). There were 5 cases lost to follow-up or quit, finally 40 cases in the control group and 41 cases in the intervention group.Baseline assessments were performed by the general information questionnaire,DMSM(Distress Management Screening Measure),MCMQ(Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire)and FACT-G(Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Generic scale)before the intervention. The control group accepted routine nursing, while the intervention group accepted narrative nursing on this basis. After the intervention,DMSM,MCMQ and FACT-G were used to evaluate the intervention effect.SPSS Statistics 17.0 was used for statistical analysis. The statistical methods mainly included descriptive statistics,t-test,chi-square test,non-parametric statistics, etc. The bilateral test level was α=0.05,P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results1.The scores of DT: After the intervention, the scores of psychological distress of the intervention group were significantly lower than before(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in the control group(P>0.05).After the intervention, the scores of DT in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).2.The scores of MCMQ: Before and after the intervention, comparison of scores of each dimension of MCMQ in the control group showed no statistical significance(P>0.05).After the intervention, the scores of confrontation dimension in the intervention group increased significantly than before(P<0.05),but there was no statistical difference on the scores of resignation dimension and avoidance dimension(P>0.05).After the intervention, the scores of confrontation dimension in the intervention group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference on the scores of resignation dimension and avoidance dimension between the two groups(P>0.05).3.The scores of FACT-G: After the intervention, the scores of quality of life and social/family well-being dimension of the control group were slightly increased than before(P<0.05).After the intervention, except physical well-being dimension, the scores of quality of life,social/family well-being,emotional well-being and functional well-being dimensions in the intervention group were increased significantly than before(P<0.05).After the intervention, except physical well-being dimension, the scores of quality of life,social/family well-being,emotional well-being and functional well-being dimensions of the intervention group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions1.Narrative nursing can reduce the psychological distress of malignant tumor patients undergoing chemotherapy.2.Narrative nursing has a positive significance for changing the coping style of chemotherapy patients with malignant tumor.Through narrative nursing, the coping style of the patients has changed in a positive direction of confrontation.3.Narrative nursing can improve the quality of life of malignant tumor patients undergoing chemotherapy. It can improve the emotional well-being,social/family well-being and functional well-being dimension obviously, but the improvement of physical well-being dimension is not obvious, which needs further study.
