There is evidence that the incidence and mortality rates of maternal complications are closely related to the professional level of midwives.Therefore,the professional level of midwives is of great importance to the health of women and children.China's Ministry of Health mentioned in the report on the development of health care programs for women and children: "Women's and children's health is the premise and foundation of human sustainable development.Women's and children's health indicators are not only internationally recognized basic health indicators,but also important comprehensive indicators to measure the level of social economy and human development." The introduction of the policy of popularizing the second child in 2015 also puts for higher requirement for midwifery human resources.The training of midwifery talents is imminent,and midwifery education is facing new challenges.The training of midwifery talents is inseparable from midwifery education.It has been more than 80 years since the establishment of formal midwifery education in China in 1928.Due to historical reasons,midwifery education has experienced a series of stages,such as higher education of midwifery,secondary health education and higher vocational education.Until the 1980 s,midwifery education in China gradually resumed.At present,it mainly focuses on college and secondary vocational education.Based on the development status of midwifery profession in China,combining with the teaching characteristics of midwifery profession in secondary vocational health schools,and sorting out the development of PBL teaching mode at home and abroad,this paper adopts the methods of literature research,action research,empirical research,statistical analysis and interview to study the application of PBL teaching mode in the teaching of Obstetrics and nursing in secondary vocational health schools from both theoretical and practical aspects.The purpose of this study is to explore the feasibility of applying PBL teaching mode in obstetrics and nursing teaching in secondary vocational health schools,and to summarize the shortcomings in the process of application and elaborate the corresponding countermeasures.After practice teaching,this study conducted theoretical practice test and interview questionnaire.Results showned that it is feasible to apply PBL teaching mode in the teaching of obstetrics and nursing in secondary vocational health school,which can improve students' learning efficiency.PBL(problem-based learning)teaching mode is a problem-oriented teaching mode,which is characterized by student-centeredness.In China,PBL teaching mode is mainly used in medical colleges with master's degree and undergraduate degree,but less in secondary vocational health schools.This teaching mode takes students as the main body and seeks solutions by asking questions,searching materials and discussing in groups.It pays attention to the process of students' learning and the improvement of students' learning ability in various aspects,rather than simply paying attention to the teaching of knowledge.Therefore,it is of great significance to develop PBL teaching mode for the midwifery profession in secondary vocational health schools to train practical high-quality midwives who meet the needs of the times.
