Clinical Efficacy Of Medical Ozone Water In The Treatment Of Ankylosing Spondylitis

Objective:To investigate the effect of medical ozone water on serum TNF-a,substance P,CRP and daily living ability in patients with AS,and explore the potential mechanism of AS treatment by medical ozone water.Methods:In this clinical study,A total of 60 patients with AS were enrolled in this trial.They were randomly divided into two groups,30 in the experimental group and 30 in the control group.The patients in the experimental group were treated with medical ozone water in the sacroiliac joint cavity and facet joints of thoracic and lumbar vertebra for 12 weeks.While in the control group,patients were given Leflunomide Tablets for 12 weeks.The differences in quality of life between patients before and after treatment in patients were evaluated with Bath ankylosing spondylitis disease activity index(BASDAI)and Bath ankylosing spondylitis function index(BASFI).The levels of serum TNF-a,substance P,CRP were assayed by ELISA.Outcomes:1.The overall response rate of medical ozone water was 83.33%,significantly higher than that of Leflunomide Tablets(60.00%)(P<0.05).2.After 12 weeks intervention,the BASDAI score and BASFI score of the two groups were significantly lower than baseline(P<0.05).After treatment there was no significant difference in BASDAI score between the two groups(P>0.05),while the BASFI score of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group,meanwhile the difference was statistically significant.(P<0.05).3.After intervention,the serum levels of CRP,TNF-α and substance P of the two groups were much lower than those at baseline,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),and the serum TNF-α and substance P level of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group(all P <0.05),but no significant difference was found in the serum CRP between groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Medical ozone hydrotherapy could significantly alleviate the clinical symptoms of AS patients and improve their daily living ability in AS patient.The potential mechanism was that the medical ozone water could-negatively regulate the expression of inflammatory factors such as CRP,TNF-α and substance P and inhibit the excessive progression of inflammation,which delay the development of the disease and exert the clinical effect.
