Objective: To analyze and compare the clinical outcome of Zero-Profile internal fixation system and cage with plate internal fixation system in the treating cervical spondylosis through follow-up and observation. Methods: This research involving 69 patients with cervical spondylos who get treatments by the anterior approach operative in the Affiliated Hospital of Southwestern Medical University from December 2016 to October 2018.The patients were divided into group A(Zero-Profile Internal Fixation System)and group B(Cage With Plate Internal Fixation System)according to different surgical methods. The clinical outcomes were evaluated with the operative time, intraoperative blood loss, the Visual analog scale(VAS),the Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)in the preoperative and postoperative, the JOA recovery rate and the Eating assessment tool-10(EAT-10),the adjacent segment disease rate and surgery fusion rate.RESULTS: All the patients had significant improvement inpostoperative with no sever postoperative complications such as nerve injury, hemorrhagic shock, infection, esophageal fistula, and internal fixation fracture. The A group indicated significantly lower operation timeand intraoperative blood loss postoperatively compared with B group in the statistical(P<0.05).The scores of VAS and JOA in postoperative and follow-up were significantly improved between the two groups(P<0.05).The JOA recovery rate in postoperative and follow-up had no statistically differences between the A group and B group(P>0.05).The Zero-Profile group had a statistical lower rate of postoperative dysphagia than Cage with plate group(P<0.05).There was no statistical significance difference in the adjacent segment disease rate and surgery fusion rate between Group A and Group B(P>0.05).Conclusion: Both Zero-profile and Cage with plate internal fixation system can get satisfactory outcome in treating cervical spondylosis.Zero-profile surgery reduces the time and blood loss in the intraoperative compared with the traditional Cage titanium plate surgery. However the incidence of postoperatively dysphagia in Zero-profile is lower than Cage titanium plate group.
