Observation On The Curative Effect Of Interlocking Intramedullary Nail,Locking Plate And External Fixator In The Treatment Of Nonunion Of Adult Femoral Shaft Fractures

Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine time to reunion of femoral shaft fracture nonunions based on fracture fixation methods: intramedullary nail(IMN),plate osteosynthesis(PO),and external fixation(EF).Methods: This retrospective chart review included all patients who presented in our hospital with nonunion of femoral shaft fractures between 2012 and 2017.Fixation methods,The time of hospitalization,the time of operation,the amount of operative blood loss,the length of bone defect after the removal of nonunion lesions,the number of previous operations,knee and hip joint movement were recorded and patient course was followed until nonunion had healed clinically.Results: There was no significant difference in the general data of the three groups,including age,sex and fracture location(P >0.05),which was comparable.there was no significant difference in operation time,blood loss,length of bone defect,length of hospital stay,number of previous operations and time of bone healing among the three groups(P > 0.05).Twelve patients in the three groups were followed up for 8-22 months with an average follow-up time of 17 months.bone healing was reached in 12 patients.During the follow-up,no complications were found.such as fracture reduction loss,angulation or rotation malunion,loosening of internal fixation,fracture and infection.At the last follow-up,according to the functional recovery and reunion time,there was no significant difference between the three groups.Conclusion: IMN,PO and EF are feasible in the treatment of nonunion of femoral shaft fracture.it is necessary to grasp the strict indication of operation,select the appropriate operative scheme according to the situation of the patients,and standardize the operation during the operation.good rehabilitation exercise after operation can improve the quality of life of patients.
