Development Of Patient-reported Outcomes Scale For Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients

Objective To construct a specific patient-reported outcomes scale for maintenance hemodialysis,and to provide the basis for evaluating the effect of treatment and nursing on the patients.Method The PRO instrument development standard and procedures are followed during the development of this scale;the framing theory and item pool are formed after significant information of maintenance hemodialysis was gained through reading previous document and literature,and through consulting patients.Using Delphi method to evaluate the contents of the entries and dimensions.And then the draft scale was formed.This scale was used for trial investigation,and the primary scale was formed according to the items selection by using critical ratio method,dispersion tendency method,factor analysis method,correlation coefficient method and Cronbach's a coefficient method.(2)Through the convenience-sampling method selected 200 Maintenance hemodialysis patients who come from two third-grade class-A hospital of Hangzhou City by the primary scale,the reliability,validity,and feasibility of the scale were checked.Then,the scale was formed.Results(1)Finally the "Maintenance Hemodialysis PRO Scale" consists of 33 items and 4 dimensions.(2)Reliability:reliability is verified by Cronbach's a coefficient with 0.925 of total scale.And the split-half reliability of total scale is 0.968.(3)Validity:In this study,the framing theory and item pool are formed after significant information of maintenance hemodialysis was gained through reading previous document and literature,and through consulting patients.That ensured the content validity of this study.Select the items according to expert consulation and a variety of statistical methods.We used exploratory factor molecules to extract 4 common factors,the cumulative variance contribution rate was 75.021%.The results showed fit-well with the theoretical structure model.(4)In terms of scale feasibility,the scale recovery rate was 98%,the completion rate was 97.9%,and the completion time was no longer than 15 minutes,so the feasibility is good.Conclusion The PRO scale developed for maintenance hemodialysis patients has good reliability,validity and feasibility,so it can be used as a tool for evaluating and studying the clinical effect of maintenance hemodialysis.
