Objective: Critical thinking ability is the basic requirement of medical education and helps medical worker to make correct decisions.The field of Chinese medical education pays more and more attention to the cultivation of critical thinking of medical students,but it mainly focuses on the field of nursing.The status of critical thinking ability and influencing factors are rarely reported among other major's medicial students.This aim of this study was to understand the status of critical thinking disposition of medical students and analyze related influencing factors,provide theoretical basis for medical education reform and promote the formation and development of medical students' critical thinking ability.Methods: Cross-sectional study was used.CTDI-CV to conduct investigation of2013 to 2015 grade medical students in five-year clinical and five-year non-clinical majors.Based on consulting experts and reading a large number of domestic and foreign literatures,we designed a questionnaire of critical thinking ability influencing factors.Results:(1)The result of critical thinking disposition of 1414 medical students: the overall mean value is 313.97±35.05,84.23% of the students show positive critical thinking disposition.Among them,the four dimensions of open-mindedness,analyticity,inquisitiveness and maturity are all positive qualities,but the truth-seeking,systematicity and self-confidence are expressed as neutral.The clinical medicine students has a higher score of critical thinking total grade,truth-seeking,analyticity,systematicity,inquisitiveness than the non-clinical ones.The 2013-2015 grade has a significant statistical difference in the field of truth-seeking,open-mindedness,systematicity,inquisitivenes.The eight-year medical students have a more higher score in truth-seeking and maturity.(2)A survey of 2015 grade students suggests that the overall mean value of critical thinking disposition of 292.61±34.69,65.40% of the students show positive critical thinking disposition.After logistic regression analysis,the influencing factors related to critical thinking disposition are listed as follows: origin,family factors(mother education level,family discussion situation),types of books in extracurricular reading,enthusiasm for participating in activities,and awareness of critical thinking(acknowledge that medical activities requires critical thinking skills,preferring to use evidence to prove own point,and not only copying textbooks when encountering medical problems).In addition,the factors that affect each dimension are different.The factors of three dimensions with lower score are listed as follows.Truth-seeking is associated with family discussion situation.Systematicityis is associated with origin,parent location,family discussion situation,method to deal with disease diagnosis.Self-confidence is associated with family discussion situation,character,achievability.Conclusions: Medical students' critical thinking disposition tends to be positive overall and varies in different grade and mojor.The results suggest that we should cultivate medical students' critical thinking skills from three aspects: school perspective(curriculum setting,educational philosophy,learning methods),family perspective(democratic atmosphere),personal perspective(reading habits,active participation in activities,raising awareness of critical thinking,and not only copying textbooks when encountering medical problems...
