The Clinical Observation On Treatment Of The Constipation After Apoplexy With Catgut Implantation At Acupoint

ObjectiveThis study used the therapy of catgut implantation at acupoint to treat the constipation after apoplexy comparing with the therapy of electroacupuncture.Patients were observed the improvement of the symptoms about constipation and the quality of life by recording the scores of symptoms about constipation and PAC-QOL in two groups,which proved the effect of catgut implantation at acupoint on treating the constipation after apoplexy,and provide a better method to treat the constipation after apoplexy for clinicians.Methods64 patients selected from the Guangdong second traditional Chinese medicine hospital were divided into treatment group and control group in accordance with the random number table.There were 32 patients had completed the clinical study in each group.Patients in the two groups received basic and individual treatment.In addition,Patients were treated with two groups of acupoint,including group A: bilateral Pishu,bilateral Tianshu,bilateral Shangjuxu and group B: bilateral Zusanli,bilateral Dachangshu,bilateral Zhigou.The treatment group used the therapy of catgut implantation at acupoint weekly,using the two groups of acupoint alternately.The control group used the therapy of electroacupuncture every other day,using the two groups of acupoint alternately.Both of two groups were treated for 2 weeks.Patients were collected the scores of symptoms about constipation and PAC-QOL in two groups after treatment,which was analyzed statistically to evaluate cure effect.Results1.There were no statistical difference(P >0.05)found in the gender,age,course of the disease,type of stroke,the scores of symptoms about constipation and the scores of PAC-QOL between the two groups.The two gr oups were comparable.2.After the treatment,the scores of symptoms about constipation were improved significantly compared with those before the treatment in two groups.By the paired-samples t-test,both of their differences have notable meaning(P =0.000<0.05).By the independent-samples t-test,the difference between the treatment group and the control group have notable meaning(P=0.044<0.05)as for the scores of symptoms about constipation.By the independent-samples t-test,the difference between the treatment group and the control group have notable meaning(P =0.018<0.05)as for the poor scores of constipation symptoms before and after treatment.The result shows that both of two treatments can improve symptoms,while the therapy of catgut implantation at acupoint is better than he therapy of electroacupuncture.3.After the treatment,the scores of PAC-QOL were improved significantly compared with those before the treatment in two groups.By the paired-samples t-test,both of their differences have notable meaning(P =0.000<0.05).By the independent-samples t-test,the difference between the treatment group and the control group have notable meaning(P =0.018<0.05)as for the scores of PAC-QOL.By the independent-samples t-test,the difference between the treatment group and the control group have notable meaning(P =0.000<0.05)as for the poor scores of PAC-QOL before and after treatment.The result shows that both of two treatments can improve the life of the patients,while the therapy of catgut implantation at acupoint is better than the therapy of electroacupuncture.4.The clinical efficiency of the treatment group was 90.625%,and the control group was 65.6%.By the rank sum test,the difference between the treatment group and the control group have notable meaning(P =0.006<0.05)as for clinical effect.By Chi-square test,the difference between the treatment group and the control group have notable meaning(P =0.032<0.05)as for clinical efficiency.The result shows that the therapy of catgut implantation at acupoint is better than he therapy of electroacupuncture as for clinical efficiency and effect.ConclusionThe therapy of catgut implantation at acupoint and the therapy of electroacupuncture all to different degree of improve clinical symptoms and the quality of life of the constipation after apoplexy,while the therapy of catgut implantation at acupoint was obviously better than the therapy of electroacupuncture,which can be applied in clinic.
