Objective To explore whether edaravone can relieve inflammatory reaction and cerebral ischemia and hypoxia reaction in meningioma patients undergoing meningioma resection,and measure the brain protective effect of edaravone.Methods 30 patients scheduled for the first resection of meningiomas were selected from January 2017 to November 2017 and randomly divided into the edaravone group(group E)and the control group(group C),and each group had 15 patients.The two groups were treated all the same except the experimental group was intravenously injected with 100 ml saline containing 30 mg edaravone before 30 min induction,and the control group was only given 100 ml normal saline.Collect the internal jugular vein blood during before anesthesia induction(T0),beginning of operation(T1),incision of dura mater(T2),immediately after operation(T3)and record the level of TNF-α,IL-10,superoxide dismutase(SOD)and S100βprotein.Results Within group the expression of TNF-α,IL-10 and S100βprotein in two groups increased gradually with time,but the level of SOD decreased in C group,and increased in E group,this difference was statistically significant at different time points(p<0.05).The levels of TNF-αand IL-10 were not significantly different between two groups at T0 and T1.At T2 and T3 the level of TNF-αof C group was higher than that of E group,and the IL-10 level was lower than that of the E group.There was no significant difference between the two groups of S100βprotein and SOD at T0(p>0.05).At T1,T2 and T3,S100 beta in group C was higher than that in group E,and SOD was lower than that in E group,and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05).Conclusions Edaravone can resist the perioperative inflammatory response,free radicals and oxidative stress in meningioma patients,and it has a certain brain protection effect during perioperative period of meningioma resection.
