Research On Chinese Version Of The Elder Self Neglect Assessment Scale And Its Application

Objective:To introduce the Elder Self Neglect Assessment scale,and to conduct a test of reliability and validity of Chinese version,so as to form an evaluation tool which is suitable for measuring the elder self neglect in Chinese cultural context.And to investigate and analyze the self neglect level and related factors of the old people using the Chinese version of the elder self neglect assessment scale,and then to provide references for promoting the rational use of it and the health of the old people.Method:1.Through literature review,reviewed the researches' progress and concerns of the elder self neglect at home and abroad,and selected the Elder Self Neglect Assessment(ESNA)for Chinese localization.2.With the consent of the original author,the initial Chinese version of the ESNA scale was formed through translation,reverse translation,cultural debugging and cognitive investigation.3.Use the initial Chinese version of the ESNA scale to 320 old people,through the project analysis(correlation analysis,extreme group test)and exploratory factor analysis to check the scale's items and structure,and to form the the formation of the Chinese version of the ESNA scale;use this scale to do a investigation to 350 older people,through the internal consistency test and confirmatory factor analysis to verify the reliability and validity of it,so as to validate scale of Chinese version.4.Apply the Chinese version of the ESNA scale,combined with the general information questionnaire,psychological capital scale,geriatric depression scale,social support scale,daily life ability scale,and carry on the investigation to 610 older people,investigate the self neglect level and analyse the influencing factors of older people's self neglect.Results:1.The Chinese version of the ESNA scale is formed.The scale is divided into threedimensions and 24 items,which is divided into life style / condition,health care and living environment.The Cronbach's a of the scale was 0.918,and the Cronbach's a of each dimension is 0.803 to 0.884,and the retest reliability is 0.893.2.Cross-sectional study results: ?The elder self neglect level: the study presents that the elder self neglect mean score is 13.38±10.095,the dimensions of lifestyle /conditions,health care and three dimensions family health score is 3.31±5.089,5.32±3.712,4.66±3.206.The overall level is moderate.?Results of influencing factors:Though single factor analysis and correlation analysis,elect significant variables to do multiple linear regression analysis.The result shows that psychological capital,self-care ability,visitation of children,residence,economic source,way of residence,religious beliefs,social support,age and the number of chronic diseases,are into the equation of elder self neglect's influence factors.Conclusion:1.The Chinese version of the ESNA scale has a high degree of discrimination,good reliability and validity.It is an effective measurement tool for measuring the elder's self neglect,and is suitable for the use of Chinese cultural background.2.Overall,the elders' self neglect level is in the medium level,psychological capital,ability of daily life,children visit,residence,economic origin,religious beliefs,social support rating,living style,age,the number of disease are the main influencing factors,to provide a reference for the future construction of intervention strategies,reduce the severity of self neglect,and to improve the health level of the older people.
