ObjectiveTo explore the influence of Cognitive-existential Group Intervention(CE)on health behaviors and quality of life of the middle-aged and old patients with Non-small cell Lung Cancer(NSCLC)undergoing chemotherapy.Methods94 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion standards in this study were enrolled as participants, they were divided into intervention group and control group.Patients who were assigned into intervention group received CE and usual nursing, including 6 times group intervention with different themes, individual intervention and telephone follow-up based on patients’ needs for 4 months.Patients who were assigned into control group received usual nursing of hospital, including health education and telephone follow-up.Health-Promoting Lifestyle ProfileⅡ(HPLPⅡ),Functional Assessment of Lung Cancer therapy(FACT-L)were collected by researchers at baseline,at 1 month and 3 months after intervention. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistic,t test,chi-square test, generalized estimation equation,etc.Results5 patients lost in the research process,89 patients finished the whole research, including 45 patients in intervention group,44 patients in control group.1.Comparison of scores of HPLP after intervention in two grouⅡ ps(1)After intervention, the results of the generalized estimating equations of HPLP Ⅱscores for lung cancer patients showed that time effect(Wald=332.453,P<0.01),group effect(Wald=124.719,P<0.01)and interaction effect(Wald=150.237,P<0.01)were statistically significant, the scores of HPLPⅡfor lung cancer patients in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group at 1 month and 3 months after intervention.(2)The comparison results of different time points(baseline,1 month and 3 months after intervention)in intervention group indicated that the other variables were statistically significant(P<0.017),excluding comparison results of the total scores of HPLPⅡ,self-actualization,health responsibility and stress management between 1 month and 3 months after intervention(P>0.05).2.Comparison of scores of FACT-L after intervention in two groups(1)After intervention, the results of the generalized estimating equations of FACT-L scores for lung cancer patients showed that time effect, group effect and interaction effect were statistically significant in the other variables(P<0.01),excluding dimension of additional concerns-lung was only statistically significant in interaction effect(Wald=9.508,P<0.01).the scores of FACT-L for lung cancer patients in the intervention group were greater than those in control group at 1 month and 3 months after intervention.(2)The comparison results of different time points(baseline,1 month and 3 months after intervention)in intervention group indicated that the other variables were statistically significant(P<0.017),excluding comparison results of Lung cancer related symptoms(P>0.05).ConclusionsCE can effectively promote health behaviors and improve quality of life of the middle-aged and old patients with NSCLC undergoing chemotherapy through group guidance, individual guidance and telephone follow-up.
