Objectives Through the way of observing lifestyle status of middle-aged and elderly hypertensive patients in Lianyungang rural communities,we investigate the influencing factors, then analyse unhealthy lifestyle of patients systematically and comprehensively,in order to take effective prevention and control measures to correctly guide rural elderly patients to improve the poor lifestyle,so as to provide reference for improving the awareness of the prevention and treatment of hypertensive patients. Methods During June 2016 to September,we randomly selected 5 towns from Donghai County in Lianyungang(China Stroke Primary Prevention(CSPPT)testing site),and then randomly chose 2 393 rural patients aged over 45 with hypertension from these towns. There is no specific domestic scale to assess the level of healthy lifestyles in hypertensive patients,so we designed a questionnaire that based on Health Promoting Lifestyle Scale II(HPLP II)to investigate the status of lifestyle in hypertensive patients.Using Epi Data3.1 to found a database for double entry and error detection, then using SPSS16.0 to perform the descriptive statistical analysis and logistic regression analysis. Results The smokers accounted for 18.1%,alcohol drinkers accounted for 24.6%,high sodium-diet accounted for 36.1%,38.8% are feeling high pressure of themselves,35.4% are not monitor blood pressure by their own,80.6% are lack of exercise, poor sleep quality accounted for 9.1%.The rates of smoking, consuming alcohol and salty intake were significantly higher in males than in females, the self-perceived pressure of females was greater than that of males, the quality of sleep in females was worse than that of males, the rate of exercise in females was significantly higher than in males(all P<0.05).The rates of smoking and not self-monitoring blood pressure patients with family history were lower than those of people without family history, poor sleep quality rates of people with family history were higher than those without hypertension family history(all P<0.05).The higher education level group had a significantly higher smoking and drinking rates and they were more addicted to salty food, felt more stress, pay more attention to self-monitoring of blood pressure and had more exercises than lower education level group(all P<0.05).The smoking rates are increasing with the age,the age > 65 group had a significantly higher smoking rate than the other two groups(P<0.05).However,the rates of self-perceived high stress were decreased with the age(P<0.01).There was a significant difference between different gender, age, education level and family history of hypertension(all P<0.05).Conclusions The lifestyle status of hypertensive patients is in poor quality. For their ability to lead a healthy lifestyle is insufficient,it’s necessary to strengthen the health education of hypertension patients, and relevant clinical medical staff should give a comprehensive and systematic guidance for patients,so as to effectively improve the rural hypertensive patient’s health and enhance their quality of life.
