| Purpose To explore the relationships among self-disclosure,intimacy,communication pattern of marriage and benefit finding in breast cancer patients based on The relationship intimacy model of couple adaptation to cancer,Expands the scope of research on the mechanisms of benefit-finding in breast cancer patients,provides evidence for the intervention of benefit finding.Methods Totally 316 breast cancer patients which came from two hospitals in Anhui province were investigated with the Benefit Finding Scale(BFS),The Distress Disclosure Index(DDI),Communication Pattern Questionnaire(CPQ),The Quality of Relationship Index(QRI).Data were inputted with Epidata3.1 and analysed using SPSS 21.0 to do the univariate analysis,correlation and the mediation analysis.Results(1)The score of benefit finding was 44.02±11.8;Univariate analysis showed differences in benefit finding for breast cancer patients at residence,educational level,family relationship,occupational status,medicare,absence of breast,distance from diagnosis(P<0.05).(2)The score of self-disclosure was 41.61±12.15;Univariate analysis showed differences in self-disclosure for breast cancer patients at residence,educational level,family relationship,monthly income,medicare,financial burden(P<0.05).(3)The score of constructive communication was 12.32±6.15,the demanding/withdraw communication was 16.42±7.27,the mutual avoidancecommunication was5.19±3.18,Univariate analysis showed differences in constructive communication for breast cancer patients at residence,family relationship,monthly income,religious beliefs,caregiver,chemotherapy(P<0.05);Univariate analysis showed differences in demanding/withdraw communication for breast cancer patients at residence,family relationship,financial burden(P<0.05);Univariate analysis showed differences in mutual avoidance communication for breast cancer patients at residence,family relationship,monthly income,religious beliefs,chemotherapy(P<0.05).(4)The score of intimacy was 33.20±6.21;Univariate analysis showed differences in intimacy for breast cancer patients at educational level,family relationship,medicare,financial burden,religious beliefs,caregiver(P<0.05).(5)Correlation analysis showed that the self-disclosure,intimacy,constructive communication,demanding/withdraw communication,mutual avoidance communication are related with each other,except for mutual avoidance communication and benefit finding(r=-0.736~0.676,P<0.05).(6)Intimacy had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between self-disclosure and benefit finding,Intimacy had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between constructive communication,demanding/withdraw communication,mutual avoidance communication and benefit finding.Conclusions Benefit finding was found in breast cancer patients,which at a moderate level that can be improved.Intimacy had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between self-disclosure,communication pattern of marriage and benefit finding.Self-disclosure,constructive communication can promote intimacy and thus promote the benefit finding,The demanding/withdraw communication and mutual avoidance communication are the negative influence factors of intimacy,which is unfavorable to the benefit finding of patients.In promoting the positive psychological adjustment of breast cancer patients,medical staff should pay more attention to promote theself-disclosure of breast cancer patients,evaluate the communication patterns between breast cancer patients and their partner,and help them to take more constructive communication to improve their level of benefit finding. |
