Study On Torreya Grandis 'Merrillii' Production Development And Its Suggestions In Zhejiang Province

Torreya grandis 'Merrillii' is an unique high quality dried fruit in China.It is also a high-yield and high-quality woody oil tree species.It has strong adaptability,good development prospects and high cultivation efficiency.It is suitable to be used as one of the preferred tree species for the development of woody oil in China.Zhejiang Province is the main producing area of T.grandis 'Merrillii'.After more than ten years of continuous development,the T.grandis 'Merrillii' industry has formed at a large scale.Based on the data of field investigation and second-hand data,we clarified the problems in the development of the T.grandis 'Merrillii' industry using the statistical analysis.On this basis,the corresponding countermeasures for the sustainable development of T.grandis 'Merrillii' industry in Zhejiang are proposed,which is of great practical significance for promoting the development of T.grandis 'Merrillii' industry in Zhejiang,improving the quality of T.grandis 'Merrillii' and the market competitiveness of processed products,as well as increasing the income of farmers.T.grandis 'Merrillii' industry in Zhejiang has developed rapidly in recent years,and has increased by 142.1% in the past ten years,with an average annual growth rate of 3,126.89 hectares.It is the fastest growing tree species in the development of economic forest,and the output has also increased by nearly3.5 times.In 2016,the output value reached 1.24 billion,nearly 5 times increase.Due to good economic returns,many companies have joined T.grandis 'Merrillii' industry.With the development of T.grandis'Merrillii' industry,there were also some obvious differences among the new afforestations,which is seriously affected by the environment.Meanwhile the initial fruit time is long,and the investment recovery is late.Additionally,the cost of production factors is continuously increasing,while the economic benefits are declining.Through the investigation and research on T.grandis 'Merrillii' industry for several consecutive years,the T.grandis 'Merrillii' industry has been accepted by farmers and new managers,and the income is generally higher.According to the analysis of operating costs and returns in the production cycle,the break-even point of ordinary farmers begins after the initial fruit period,while the new manager is just the opposite.Through the input-output analysis of typical cases,it is shown that the cooperative investment recovery period is about 10 years,while the ordinary farmers need 13 years.The return on investment of cooperatives and ordinary farmers was 34% and 16%,respectively,which was significantly higher than that of planting industry.However,in the early stage of development,the yield of mu of large-scale individuals sometimes did not meet expectations due to inconsistent seedlings and individual differences,,and the cost was not recovered after 13 years of planting.If the seedling quality and management level are ameliorated,the economic benefits of T.grandis 'Merrillii' may be greatly improved.Through investigations,it is found that the cost of production factors in the T.grandis 'Merrillii'industry continues to increase,and the shortage of labor will become increasingly serious.Therefore,we proposes measures for the sustainable development of T.grandis 'Merrillii' industry in Zhejiang Province.First,we must strengthen scientific nurturing and accelerate the promotion of improved varieties.Second,we must strengthen brand building and enhance product competitiveness.Third,wemust make plans for the development of the entire industrial chain and implement standardized production.Fourth,we must reinforce the top-level design and increase policy funding;Fifth,we must enhance the ability of scientific and technological innovation and improve the level of scientific research.Sixth,we must accelerate the cultivation of modern business entities,and radiation to drive industrial development.
