In order to solve the problem of large variety,low yield and large quality gap in millet planting in the arid area in central Ningxia,the millet variety selection experiment was conducted in Wangtuan town and Weizhou Town,by using field experiments combined and geographic information system(GIS)methods.Through the analysis of agronomic traits,nutritional index and taste index,the high-quality and high-yielding millet varieties were screened out.Based on the appropriate ecological conditions of each variety,the central Ningxia arid area millet planting zoning picture was made.research shows:(1)This test millet varieties are late-maturing varieties.Jigu 38 Valley has the longest growth period and Zi segu has the shortest growth period.The correlation coefficient and partial correlation coefficient of yield and the respective variables indicate,There was a positive correlation between grain size and ear length and the yield of paddy fields.The ear weight,ear grain weight,ear length,1000-grain weight,ear diameter and stem diameter were positively correlated with dryland yield.(3)Based on the comprehensive evaluation value D,through cluster analysis,under irrigation conditions,High product specie are Niao budao(480.06kg/666.67m2),Zi segu(465.16kg/666.67m2),Dungu 1(444.57kg/666.67m2),Qin zhouhuang(416.95kg/666.67m2);Quality varieties are are Da jinmiao(CK),Qin zhouhuangand Niao budao;The varieties with high comprehensive evaluation were Niao budao,Qin zhouhuang,Da jinmiao(CK)and Zi segu,In drought conditions,High product species is Qin zhouhuang(316.37kg/666.67m2)Yugu 18(310.36kg/666.67m2);Quality varieties are Da jinmiao(CK)and Niao budao;The varieties with high comprehensive evaluation were Qin zhouhuang.(4)Taking the accumulated temperature ?10 ° accumulated temperature above 29000?,rainfall above 250 mm,and the rainfall during the jointing and heading stage of 100 mm or more,the suitable area for the trial millet cultivation in the arid area in central Ningxia was divided into rain-supporting areas and irrigation areas:The rain-fed areas mainly include the north of Haiyuan County,the south of Tongxin County,and the central and northern Da shuikeng of Yanchi County;the irrigation areas include the yellow river pumping irrigated area of Hong sipu,Tongxin County and Yanchi County.(5)Based on the rainfall of 270 mm,245 mm and 220 mm during the growth period and the 110 mm,100 mm and 90 mm rainfall elongation-hesding stage were selected to produce the climate suitability map of the millet cultivation in the arid region of Ningxia.Millet is suitable for planting in most parts of Haiyuan County,Mahuangshan Town,and yellow river pumping irrigated area;Wanguan Town,Yuwang Town,Gaoya Town and Ma gaozhuang Town are suitable areas;Hexi Town,Yuhai Town,Xinglong Town and Dingtang Town(except yellow river pumping irrigated area)are less suitable areas;Most parts of Yanchi,northeastern Tongxin and parts of Hong sipu are not suitable for planting areas.
