As limited by its tonnage,the defence power of offshore patrol vessel cannot depend on enhancing its weapon loading capacity.To increase the survival chance of this kind warship in sea war,it is preferred to employ stealthy strategy via reducing various physical target strengths like radar cross section,radiated sound field and generated magnetic field.Among these,radar cross section representing the performance of radar stealth is most concerned for offshore patrol vessel.For its high price-performance ratio,one typical offshore patrol vessel made in China has a great demand in the abroad market.The central purpose of this thesis is to present a scheme for the appearance design of this vessel to make its radar cross section as minimum as possible under the constraint of fulfilling other warfare performance requirements.Through numerical simulation or model testing,investigation has been carried out for radar stealth design related to the top layer planning as well as the radar cross section of each equipment.In order to identify the key scattering equipment,one method of some innovation making use of scattering source combination and iteration is proposed.Consequently,the purpose of the thesis is achieved with a technique scheme that well balances the utility of the vessel and its stealthy performance,which effectively reduces the characteristic signal of the vessel target thus increases its stealth.
