Land desertification is one of the most serious ecological and environmental problems that human beings are facing,which seriously threatens the survival and development of human society.Based on the data of soil,meteorology,vegetation,elevation,land use and net primary productivity,this paper quantified the temporal and spatial pattern of land desertification in the Otindag Sandy Land from 2000to 2015,revealed the ecological environment effect in the process of land desertification,and completed the land desertification management division in the Otindag Sandy Land Different management strategies are put forward for different regions.The research can provide basis for the prevention and control of land desertification in the Otindag Sandy Land.The resulted showed that:(1)From 2000 to 2015,the land desertification in the Otindag Sandy Land showed a general reversal trend.From the perspective of land use/cover change,the area of forest land and shrubbery increased by1937.24 km~2 and 675.78 km~2 respectively,and the area of sandy land decreased by 1141.32 km~2;about21.46%of the sandy land was converted into low coverage and medium coverage grassland.In terms of the degree of desertification,the area of moderate and severe desertification decreased by 6202.19 km~2and 4820.58 km~2 respectively.Regional land desertification is the result of climate change and human activities.(2)In the process of land desertification,the eco-environmental indicators also showed spatial heterogeneity and significant change trend.The net primary productivity was higher in the southeast and lower in the northwest.From 2000 to 2015,the regional average soil conservation services increased by nearly three times,and Duolun county increased the most.From 2000 to 2015,the net primary productivity decreased first and then increased.Soil conservation per unit area in Duolun county increased the most,and net primary productivity in Keshiketeng county increased the most.The sandstorm weather in the whole region was mainly concentrated in spring.Since 2000,the total number of annual sandstorm days has decreased significantly.(3)Based on the spatial-temporal pattern of land desertification and ecological environment indicators in the Otindag Sandy Land,the area was divided into three types of areas and six sub areas:Sandy ecological area,grassland ecological area and farmland ecological area.It was suggested that different management strategies should be adopted in the Otindag Sandy Land,and key control,balanced utilization or light utilization measures should be adopted for sand and grassland according to the degree of degradation;meanwhile,attention should be paid to"double evaluation",scientific quantification of land bearing capacity and determination of reasonable development and utilization degree,so as to realize the sustainable utilization of grassland resources.
