Research On The Evaluation Of Sustainable Development Level In Kunming Based On Principal Component Analysis

Along with the rapid development of economy in every region of China,the contradiction between regional economic development and population,society,resources and environment development is becoming more and more serious,unsustainable conditions are more serious.Kunming,the capital of Yunnan province,China,is an open and fashionable city,enjoying the reputation as the "Spring City",which have bountiful natural resources,pleasant weather,beautiful environment,and flowers often open,the tourism and trade industry is very developed.At the same time,Kunming is China's gateway to Southeast Asia,South Asia,which has obvious position advantage.The evaluation of Kunming sustainable development level has guiding significance for the development of "innovation,coordination,and green,open and sharing" to Kunming in the future.The main contents of this paper is summarized in the following aspects: Firstly,introduced the basic theory of regional sustainable development and research status;Secondly,through drawing lessons from the domestic and foreign research results and using the statistical method of social economic constructed the Kunming sustainable development evaluation system model,Kunming sustainable development system is divided into three subsystem of population and society,economy,resources and environment;Thirdly,using principal component analysis method to analyze the three index systems of the sustainable development evaluation model of Kunming,then got the population and society,economy,resources and environment comprehensive development scores of Kunming from 1996 to 2012;Fourthly,combined with the comprehensive development scores of the systems and coordination coefficient model,the paper knew the coordinated development status of Kunming between 1996 and2012,then made a rounded evaluation to the sustainable development ability and level in Kunming;Fifthly,the paper forecasted the sustainable development status ofKunming based on the comprehensive development scores of the three systems in the future five years from 1996 to 2012;Sixthly,according to the environmental problems and social problems in the process of sustainable development of Kunming,the paper putted forward the corresponding policy recommendations and solutions.The mainly conclusion of this paper includes the following six aspects: Firstly,population and society,economy,resources and environment systems have gained considerable development and progress from 1996 to 2012 in Kunming,before 2005,the comprehensive development of the three systems for Kunming were scored as negative,the scores of all the three systems are more than 2 after 2009;Secondly,resource overload exploit,environmental pollution and other issues emerged from2009,the score of resources and environment systems basically stayed in about 2from the beginning of 2009 in Kunming;Thirdly,the paper found that economic development,population and social development highly depend on the development of resources and environment system in Kunming,every 1 unit increase in score of resources and environment system,the score of population and society system will improve 1.537 units,the score of economic system will increase 1.3 units;Fourthly,the coordination coefficients between any two systems of the three systems have declined from 2008 to 2012 in Kunming.Only the coordination coefficient between population social system and resource environment system was higher than 0.5,the coordination coefficient of the population social system and economic system was only 0.28 in 2012.The results show that economic development is not very good for all residents in Kunming,leading the gap between the rich and the poor further increased;Fifthly,only the economic system maintains rapid development,the development of population and social system is very slow,the resource and environmental system is stagnant from 2016 to 2020 in Kunming;Sixthly,the coordination coefficients between any two systems of the three systems show a significant downward trend,in particular,the coordination coefficient between population social system and economic system from 2016 to 2020 in Kunming.The results indicate that Kunming will appear serious issues such as imbalance between developing economy and improving residents' living standards in the process of thethirteenth five-year development planning in Kunming.
