'"Image history' is a discipline on history using form and entity as its main materials. Specifically speaking, it is a new research model using handed down rock painting, inscription, statue, appliance, building, clothing, painting, documents, and classical books as main evidences, combining with literature to study history comprehensively."Many problems have been found in terms of references to stone-carved pictures of Han Dynasty in current history textbooks in secondary school. Based on the fact, this paper tries to use theories of image history, pedagogics, science of historical data and historical literature to classify its data in four versions of current high school and five versions of middle school history textbooks.This paper includes the following sections:introduction, describing the reason, academic research status, significance, content and reserch methods.Part ? Introduction to the literature on stone-carved pictures of Han Dynasty, including the background information, content classification, their distribution and characteristics.Part ? The application problems of stone-carved pictures of Han Dynasty in teaching. Analysis will be done from textbook and teaching perspectives. The main problems in textbook are:the amout is small; the range is narrow; too much error; no exercise. Then problems of stone-carved pictures of Han Dynasty in teaching will be analysed from teachers and students respectively.Part ? Segguestions are given to solve problems of stone-carved pictures of Han Dynasty in history teaching. First is to solve compilation problems:use complete scientific classical historical data; improve the use of stone materials of Han Dynasty by expanding the range of choice and adding references. Then, teachers should use the historical data correctly:use "image history" theory as a guide; improve their own analytical abilities; use materials corresponding to students cognitive abilities; teach in thriving ways.Finally is the conclusion, emphasizing the importance of teaching materials for students and teachers. The application of stone-carved pictures of Han Dynasty should be improved:teachers should also improve their professional abilities to ensure that information on Han Stone play a positive role in history teaching.Original pictures, sources and notes of stone-carved pictures of Han Dynasty will be shown in appendix, which will give references for compilation, and history teachers could use them directly in their teaching.
