Research backgroundChronic Atrophic Gastritis is a pre-gastric cancer disease,as one of the most important processes to form gastric cancer.Chronic atrophic gastritis has a very high case rate among senior citizens, with a younger trend.Generally,it is believed that chronic atrophic gastritis is relevant with the infection with Helicobacter pylori, the use of non-steroidal drugs, poor habits, duodenal reflux, and immune factors and so on.Pathological biopsy is a gold standard for the diagnosis of chronic atrophic gastritis.Currently, the western medicine treatments include the eradication of Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)treatment, the symptomatic treatment, the bile reflux treatment and the endoscopic surgery. However, those treatments fail to achieve an ideal result, which end up with high recurrence rates, high possibilities of re-suffering the symptoms and drug side effects.Chinese medicine has sufficient clinical experience in the treatments of chronic atrophic gastritis, with evident advantages and its own characteristics, such as improving symptoms, reversing gastric mucosal atrophy, intestinal and atypical hyperplasia, delaying or preventing disease progression, improving the quality of patients, life, preventing cancer and so on.It also brings lots of benefits,as a safe and reliable treatment method, with less adverse reactions.Research objectivesThis study is based on the summarizing my supervisor’s years of clinical experience, and observing the clinical efficacy and safety of my supervisor’s "Jian Pi Tong Luo decoction" for the treatment of chronic atrophic gastritis.Research contentsThis paper is divided into two parts-literature review and clinical research. The first part is the literature review.I have summarized the modern medical research progress and the status of Chinese medicine research on the treatments of chronic atrophic gastritis.Comparisons on the differences of etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment between Chinese medicine and Western medicine are also made in this part. The advantages of treatments by using western medicine and Chinese traditional medicine are also discussed. The second part of this paper is a clinical study.I collect 144 cases from atrophic gastritis diagnosis of weak spleen and stomach syndrome patients with CAG.They all take "Jian Pi Tong Luo Decoction" for 12 weeks. And the symptoms and gastroscopy pathology improvement are observed. In this part, the safety of "Jian Pi Tong Luo Decoction" are evaluated comprehensively.Research resultsAfter the treatments of 12 weeks, the total effective rate of symptoms was 88.19%,among which the cure rate, the significant efficiency rate and the effective rate are 88.19%,9.03%and 39.58%,respectively.The total effective rate of gastric antral atrophy was 82.76%,the total effective rate of intestinal metaplasia was 86.14%,the total effective rate of dysplasia was 100%,the total effective rate of gastric atrophy was 78.95%,the total effective rate of dysplasia was 100%,the total effective rate of gastric atrophy was 88.24%,the total effective rate of intestinal metaplasia was 58.33%,and the total effective rate of dysplasia was 100%.Safety indicators have no exception, and no adverse reactions occur. Conclusions"Jian Pi Tong Luo Decoction" has very positive effects in the treatment of weak spleen and stomach syndrome, chronic atrophic gastritis. It can improve the clinical symptoms of patients with epigastric quickly.Symptoms such as atrophy, intestinal and dysplasia are reversed."Jian Pi Tong Luo Decoction" is a safe and reliable medicine in all aspects for chronic atrophic gastritis, with no adverse reactions.
