Objective:To investigate components of Catharsius molossus.Methods: Separation and purification of the compounds was carried out by means of various chromatographic methods such as MCI gel CHP 20P,RP-18,Sephadex LH-20,PTLC,preparative and semi-preparative HPLC chromatography.The structures were identificated by using spectroscopic methods(MS,1H NMR,13CNMR,2D NMR).Results: 41 compounds were isolated from the 70% ethanol extract of Catharsius molossus,they were identified as Molossusamide A(1),Molossusamide B(2),Molossusamide C(3),cis-2-(3′,4′-Dihydroxyphenyl)-3-acetylamino-7-(N-acetyl-2′′-amino-et hylene)-1,4-benzodioxane(4),trans-2-(3′,4′-Dihydroxyphenyl)-3-acetylamino-7-(N-acetyl-2′′-aminoethyl-ene)-1,4-benzodioxane(5),trans-2-(3′,4′-Dihydro xyphenyl)-3-acetylamino-7-hydroxyethyl-1,4-benzodioxane(6),trans-2-(3′,4′-Dihydroxyphenyl)-3-acetylamino-6-hydroxyethyl-1,4-benzodioxane(7),tran s-2-(3′,4′-Dihydroxyphenyl)-3-acetylamino-6-(N-acetyl-1′′-hydroxyl-2′′-amino ethyl)-1,4-benzodioxane(8),Aspongopusamide B(9),trans-2-(3′,4′-Dihydr oxyphenyl)-3-acetylamino-6-(1′′,2′′-dihydroxyethyl)-1,4-benzodioxane(10),Molossusamide D(11),MolossusamideE(12),p-Hydroxylacetonitrile(13),N-(2-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-2-hydroxyethyl)acetamide(14),N-Acetyldopa mine(15),8-Amino-2(1H)-quinolinone(16),3,4-Dihydro-7-hydroxy-2(1H)-quinolinone(17),2-Piperidone(18),cis-Cyclo(L-Pro-L-Tyr)(19),2′-(1′-Pyr azinyl)catechol(20),3-Isopropyl-pyrrolopiperazine-2,5-dione(21),Indolal(22),Indolic(23),(1H-Indol-3-yl)oxoacetamide(24),1,3-Dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy-3-methyl-2-indolinone(25),3,4-Dihydro-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1H-2-benzopyran-6,7-diol(26),Blapsin B(27),7,4′-Homosisoflane(28),Kaempferol(29),(3R,4R)-3,4-Bis[(3-hydroxy phenyl)methyl]dihydro-2(3H)-furanone(30),(E)-1,3-Bis(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one(31),7-Hydroxycoumarin(32),3-Ethyl-6,8-dihydroxy-7-methyl-3,4-dihydroisochromen-1-one(33),Monaschromone(34),Methyl(E)-3-[(2R,3S)-2,3-dihydro-3-hydroxymethyl-7-phenyl)-1-benzo[b]furan-5-yl]-propenoate(35),M-Hydroxyphenylacetic acid(36),Protocatechualdehyde(37),P-methoxybenzoic acid(38),Vanillic acid(39),3,4-Dihydroxy-benzalacetone(40),and 3-Phenylpropionic Acid(41),respectively.10 compounds were isolated from the 70% ethanol extract of the part of the water soluble components of Catharsius molossus,they were identified as Polyrhadopamine C(42),Ginsenine(43),Anoe ctochine(44),trans-2-(3′,4′-Dihydroxyphenyl)-3-acetylamino-6-(N-acetyl-1′′-hydroxyl-2′′-aminoethyl)-1,4-benzodioxane(45),trans-2-(3′,4′-Dihydroxyphe nyl)-3-acetylamino-7-(1′′,2′′-dihydroxyethyl)-1,4-benzodioxane(46),2-Piperid one(47),Cyclo(Phe-Gly)(48),cis-Cyclo(L-Leu-L-Pro)(49),3-Isopropyl-p yrrolopiperazine-2,5-dione(50),and cis-Cyclo(L-Leu-L-Pro)(51),respectively.Conclusion: 41 compounds isolated in this species deals with dopamine dimers,dopaminederivatives,quinolines,piperidines,cyclic dipeptides,pyrazine,indoles,pyrans,flaconoids,furans,fcoumarins,xylogens and benzene derivatives,Compounds 25,26 are new natural products;compounds 11,12,20 are new compounds;compounds 1-4,6 have been published,and compound 4 possesses potoent anti-inflammatory activity toward COX-2.10 compounds isolated from water soluble partsare dopamine derivatives,dopamine dimers,alkaloids,piperidines and cyclic dipeptides.Among them,compound 42 is a rare dopbamine anoligue bearing a sulfur in the structure,which has been characterized by our group from blank ants.This compound was found to have potent NSCs proliferation promotion activity and antirheumatic property.The anti-inflammatory activity of compound 4 reveals that there might be more components with potential value in Catharsius molossus.
