ObjectiveAcute urinary retention (AUR) is a common clinical acute disease, which is serious and has many complications. If it is not treated timely, it will threaten your life. However, the treatment of urethral catheterization confined, and it is likely to lead to urinary tract infection. The effect of drug treatment is less than ideal and has many side-effects. Acupuncture is a non-drug therapy which is commonly used to treat such syndromes. It is proved to be effective and has no side-effects. However, in clinical there are diverse selections of points, and the points are distributed widely. The rule of election points is unknown. Through searching the literature,we found that it is frequency used specific points-Weizhong (BL40), Zhongji(CV3) and Pangguangshu(BL28) in the treatment of AUR. In order to optimization of these points, We need to study the effect of acupuncture-acupuncture points-Bladder to guide the clinical application. To observe the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) of bladder specific points-Weizhong (BL40), Zhongji (CV3) and Pangguangshu (BL28) on the bladder pressure and the concents of adenosine-triphosphate (ATP) and xanthine oxi-doreductase (XOD) in the bladder tissue of acute urinary retention rabbits, so as to study the relationship between the bladder specific points and the bladder.Methods48healthy male adult rabbits were randomized divided into normal group, model group, EA-non-acupoint group, EA-Weizhong (BL40) group, EA-Zhongji (CV3) group, EA-Pangguangshu (BL28) group (n=8/group). In addition to the ones in the normal group, the other rabbits all had their bladder filledwith37?saline (about40ml) which was2times to their normal bladder capacity for2hours. The EA groups were observed the change of the bladder pressure by the biological function signal acquisition system, all groups were analyzed the concents of ATP and XODin the bladder tissue by using Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay.Results1The bladder pressure of non-acupoint group were not increased significantly (P>0.05). The bladder pressure of Wei zhong (BL40) group, Zhong ji (RN3) group and Pangguangshu (BL28) group were increased significantly after EA treatment (P<0.05); compared with the Weizhong (BL40) group and the Zhongji(RN3) group, the Pangguangshu (BL28) group had more significant increased in their bladder pressure after EA treatment (P<0.05).2Compared with model group, the contents of ATP in the bladder tissue of Weizhong (BL40) group and Zhongji(RN3) group were increased significantly (P <0.01); Compared with Pangguang shu(BL28) group and the non-acupoint group, the contents of ATP in the bladder tissue of Weizhong (BL40) group and Zhongji (RN3) group were increased significantly (P<0.01)3Compared with nomal group, the contents of XOD in the bladder tissue of model group was increased significantly (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the contents of XOD in the bladder tissue of Weizhong (BL40) group Zhongji(RN3) group and and Zhongji(HRN3) group were decreased significantly (P<0.01). ConclusionFor the bladder pressure, Pangguangshu(BL28) is better than the other acupoints, which may contribute to its effect in urinating timely of acute urinary retention; For the concents of ATP in the bladder tissue, Weizhong (BL40) and Zhongji (RN3) are better than Pangguangshu (BL28) to increase the concents of ATP in the bladder tissue, which may contribute to its effect in improving the activity of ATP in the bladder tissue; For the concents of XOD in the bladder tissue, Weizhong (BL40) group Zhongji(RN3) group and and Zhongji (RN3) group were decreased significantly. But there are nosignificant differences between the three acupuncture points, which may contribute to its effect in decreasing the activity of ATP in the bladder tissue...
