Research On The Narrative Theme And Presentation Of The Tourism Reality Show Travel With Parents

In the end of the 1990 s,the reality TV shows was rising and quickly went to global.In 2013,Sichuan TV station brought in a KBS reality TV show program named Two Days and One Night.And other TV stations successively brought in the relevant shows and created tourism reality shows with their own features.Thus,the phenomenon triggers people to rethink and research the tourism reality shows.Based on narratology research theory,the thesis researches a reality TV show of Sichuan TV station-Travel with Parents,which theme was kinship and filial piety.Through methods of literature and comparative analysis as well as case analysis,the thesis reviewed and concluded the rise and development of the reality TV shows and defines the tourism reality TV shows via analyzing the general situation of the shows.Applying for narratology method and combining social context,it also researches narrative theme of Travel with Parents and expounds that how narrative theme is expressed by multiple narrative elements.Finally,the thesis figures out the shortcomings of Travel with Parents.At the same time,some suggestions are proposed in order to provide enlightenment to future's relevant TV shows.The thesis defines that the tourism reality TV shows is a program that programmers design kinds of tasks on a tour route which has been settle down and the participant must finish the tasks individually or cooperate with others.The narrative theme of the shows is the main content and core thought that the program wants to deliver to the audiences.Based on the socialist market economy,the new filial piety culture in the show meets the requirement of Chinese socialist morality construction.Combined with Chinese transitional filial piety culture,the shows take the culture as its narrative theme which properly carries forward Chinese socialist core value.Travel with Parents uses many ways to express the narrative theme via making characters,arranging core events and assist events,applying omniscient media,internal and external perspectives,fusing and interposing narrative voice,narrative time controls narrative plot as well as using wonder space to make conflicts.However,there are some problems in the shows,such as choosing topic characters,lacking ethnic and regional elements as well as broadcast time does not match narrative theme.In the future development,tourism reality TV shows should use core value to establish their brand and inherit Chinese traditional culture.The narrative elements should reflect narrative theme.The programmers should select heroes and stories which match narrative theme,choose appropriate narrative perspectives and voice.
