As a key component of military communication,radar,electronic countermeasure,particle detection,microwave weapon and so on,amplifier performance plays an important role in the system architecture.At the beginning of microwave engineering,electric vacuum power tubes(such as triode,quadruple tube,beam tube,induction output tube,etc.)occupy almost all areas of high power amplification,but due to the newly developed solid-state devices(such as bipolar tube,Field effect,etc.)in the reliability,durability,work characteristics and other advantages far more than electric vacuum power tube,so it is in some areas of rapid expansion of the application,and replace the electric vacuum power tube.Superconducting accelerator is an important tool to study particle properties.It can provide a very high energy beam,bombardment of the particles to be measured,and open it,and then identify the particle properties.This paper describes the design and manufacturing process in detail of an L-band solid state power amplifier(SSPA)for superconducting accelerators,and the results of a complete SSPA performance test.Its operating frequency range of 1290 ~ 1310 MHz,power output 1000 W,input and output load impedance of 50?.The use of three-level amplification,fourway synthesis of the work.In order to realize the successful development of the solid state amplifier,this paper discusses the important aspects of its design,such as power amplifier module,power synthesizer,thermal design and so on.And the theoretical synthesis and software simulation are used to design the power synthesizer.After the sample test,the measured transmission coefficient,reflection coefficient,isolation degree and phase consistency of the synthesizer are in agreement with the simulation parameters.In addition,the phase of the four 350 W amplifying modules is tested.The test results show that the output power at the center frequency of 1300 MHz can reach 350 W and the phase consistency is good.Through the solid state amplifier test,the SSPA at 1300 MHz center frequency,water cooling normal work,can be stable output 1000 W power.
