A KMT's News Man With The Thought Of Freedom Of The Press

Ma Xingye is an outstanding newspaperman of modern China,the well-known news educator,and also the senior and loyal member of the Kuomintang propaganda system which he devoted his whole life servicing.There was no idea about the thinking of freedom of the press in his mind until studying in the School of Journalism of Missouri University.When he came back from America,he founded the Department of Journalism the Central Political School and drafted Chinese first journalistic professional ethics Chinese Journalists' Creed.In 1945,he presided over the "Central Daily".After following the Kuomintang Party to Taiwan in 1949,he continued to engage in journalism career.In 1964 he served as the president of the Central News Agency and was voted to be the first director of the Mass Communication and Education Association in 1980.Working for the Kuomintang system whole fifty years,Ma xingye still retained the vision of freedom of the press.But because of working for the system,he also was controlled by the system.He is a veritable and quite a representative KMT's news man with the thought of freedom of the press.On former basis,combining with the related literature,social backgrounds,political factors and personal experience,this paper takes Ma Xingye's news career as the object of study and attempts to analyze how the social background,political factors and his personal experience have an influence on Ma Xingye's career and why these changes happened in order to display a panoramic image of the news career of Ma Xingye.
