With the rapid development of mobile communication technology,the antenna as an important part of communication,its requirement is increasing.For a small antenna in mobile communications,the antenna efficiency is an important parameter,it is directly related to the performance of communication equipment,but because of the environment that the small antenna is used,it is difficult to obtain the efficiency parameters of antenna from simulation.Therefore,the study of testing for the antenna efficiency is an important part of the small antenna which are used in communication is designed.In this paper,the research background of testing small antenna efficiency and testing methods of analysis first are introduced.The three kinds of methods are analyzed,wheeler cap method,method of pattern synthesis in anechoic chamber and the reverberation chamber test method and the reverberation chamber test method was selected as the main research method by comparison.According to the research on the structure and properties of the reverberation chamber,the reverberation chamber test-platform of which test frequency is from 1GHz to 5GHz can be designed.And,in order to ensure the availability of the reverberation chamber test platform,the Log Periodic Dipole Antenna ?Mono-Cone antenna and the test software are designed to test the cavity field uniformity calibration and shielding effectiveness.In the design of reverberation chamber test platform,the principle and method of measuring the reverberation chamber antenna efficiency are analyzed,the relevant steps of the antenna efficiency test is described,and the test method is improved.In order to verify the accuracy of the method of measure the antenna efficiency in reverberation chamber,the antenna efficiency of log periodic antenna and MIMO antenna whose efficiency are known are tested,the reverberation chamber test results and the measured results in microwave darkroom are compared,and the test results are analyzed.The improvement and the innovation of the thesis is given:first,in the process of building the reverberation chamber testing platform,because of its measure frequency is high,volume is small,for the convenience of mobile and modification,the reverberation chamber can be designed by using aluminum frame construction and make it move;second,in the calibration of the reverberation chamber test platform,according to the analysis of the principle of the uniformity of the cavity in the reverberation chamber,in order to reduce the testing cost,the E-field probe can be replaced by a small oscillator in the calibration;Third,in the process of measuring the antenna efficiency,according to the study of the antenna efficiency test method,the antenna efficiency in single frequency is tested by the method of continuous stirring,and the test results are analyzed.
