Eye tracking technology is an important branch of machine vision.The main research is feature detection and recognition of human eye,then use the detection result to calculate the eye fixation.In neuroscience,psychology,human-computer interaction,ergonomics,clinical diagnosis and other fields,eye-tracking technology has a broad application prospects.The design method and principle of eye-tracking system determines its performance.In this dissertation,a non-contact eye tracking system is designed and implemented based on the improved elipse fitting method,digital image processing and other technology.According to the function requirement,this paper puts forward the design scheme of the system,and carry out the system design from hardware and software.The system uses personal computer as main hardware platform.And the hardware design mainly includes the selection of the CCD camera,design of the portable and wearable carrier,etc.The main task of the software design is image processing.At first,binarization processing and image smoothing is used to preprocess on the eye image,aiming to remove the noise.Then threshold segmentation,edge dection and elipse fitting method are used to processing the image and the center location of the pupil is achieved.After that,the mapping function between the center of the pupil and screen coordinates is acquired through calibration based on second-order model.At last,the eys gaze point is achieved and superimposed on the screen,laying the foundation for human-computer interaction.Finally,the HCI system based on gaze gestures is tested.An improved gaze gestures algorithm on the reference of mouse-gestures algorithm is used via three different tasks to analyze the eye movement patterns on natural state and specific condition,data of nine basic gaze gestures is achieved and one particular gesture is found out to to be a good candidate for the implementation of interaction.The gaze tracking system designed in this paper is simple,low in cost,high in accuracy on gaze point and has great prospects in the field of human-computer interaction.
