The Educational Function Of Foreign School Libraries And Its Enlightenment

First of all,the educational function of the school library is reflected in the protection of the acquisition of library resources,the library mainly through the circulation of books and reference to the way to transfer knowledge to students.Second,under today's social background,reading guidance and promotion is also a particularly important activity.In primary and secondary schools,it is mainly through reading guidance to develop students into have a good reading interest,and guide them to master the appropriate reading method;for the college students,a variety of reading promotion activities could enhance the humanities and cultural qualities of them,and shape more mature speculative ability.Third,school library supports the teaching and research work in schools,promotes innovative teaching methods,and teaches the application of new technologies.Fourth,offering the information literacy course for students,or integrating the information technology into the teaching of professional courses.Fifth,through the network distance education,improve the initiative of self-learning,enrich the teaching content of teachers,and achieve the maximum sharing of literature resources.In this paper,15 foreign primary schools,secondary schools and university libraries are selected as examples,and the methods of literature research,case study and comparative analysis are used synthetically.This paper discusses the educational function of the school library from five aspects: resource service,reading instruction,teaching and research,skills training and distance education.It also illustrates the three manifestations of the school library's social education function,including the library's interlibrary cooperation,cooperation with social institutions and special group services.On this basis,the paper analyzes the influence of library legislation,management system,hardware facilities and librarian quality on the educational function of school library.At last,it puts forward some suggestions for the development of our school library.
