Over the past decade, our country gradually made remarkable achievements in the field of aerospace, research and practice of space basic technology has reached the international advanced level. With the development of space technology and space applications normalization, some new requirements are gradually raised. Launched in 2010, our space station project is expected to complete a large-scale national space laboratory in 2020, in which is long-term for people to participate. In this application background, the simple text, voice messages and a single angle video has been unable to meet the requirements of realtime observation for ground remote monitoring system.In this paper, a presentation system that can visually present the space cabin scene to the ground control station researchers is designed relying on the Thirteen Five project planning of the eighth Space Research Institute, which will to provide a more comprehensive image data for the institute in the design and research of space cabins. To complete the task, this paper put forward an innovative solution combined with virtual reality technology, panorama generation technology and image compression and transmission processing technology, and this solution can complete the whole package implementation from image acquisition to image compression and transmission process, to ground control virtual reality display.The main work includes the following three aspects. First, based on the needs proposed by the eighth Space Research Institute about space cabin virtual reality observation this paper designed a set of solutions including cameras, image compression and transmission unit and ground virtual reality synthetic, and the realization of the demonstration system was done in collaboration with the co-operation. In order to simulate shooting environment of the panoramic camera in the space cabin this paper use a digital camera fixed on the triangle bracket with different pitch angle to shoot in rotation mode in the laboratory, and verified the feasibility of the program; Second, image acquisition unit of the space cabin scene was designed and finished, and the solution adopted by the unit is based on DSP + FPGA of video compression and coding. FPGA makes bits wide conversion and cross clock domain conversion for the input data by sensors after filtering, and then the data will be stored in the SRAM, according to RS422 instruction FPGA makes color interpolation, color space conversion and embedded configuration synchronization for the data read out from SRAM,after which image data is transformed into DSP to be compressed in standard of JPEG2000 finally, image compression code stream is passed back into FPGA to do the packing process then the data is output via LVDS interface. Third, this paper proposed comprehensive approach based on multi-angle roaming handover, generated panorama by complex utilization of SURF feature point detection and matching algorithm, spherical projection model and RANSAC algorithm, and completed a virtual reality control software based on OpenCV.In this paper, virtual reality technology based on panoramas of the space cabin scene was achieved, the unit of image compression and transmission processing passed various experiments, the virtual reality display control section also completed the intended function. This design not only succeeded in the virtual reality technology to cabin space, but also achieved a comprehensive roaming under certain conditions. Actual operating results of software instructs that on this basis, with the same scene images obtained has higher resolution and better results of display.
