The Research On Weakening About Network Virtual Space's Publicness

Hannah Arendt,Jurgen Habermas and Richard Sennett built an equilateral triangle on "publicness" theory in western academia together,as their researches focus on"classical political public sphere","bourgeoisie public sphere" and "impersonality public sphere" respectively.Richard Sennett emphasized personality influence on public pattern and discussed the fall of "public" in traditional community from the perspective of social individual diversities and expected that his longing and pursuit of"impersonalization" in modem public sphere will come true.The flourishing development of network technique and intellectual terminal do not only changed previous information spreading modes but also promoted the public's initiative for participating in public affairs.The online and offline interactions built up new "public sphere" and obscure the bound between real public sphere and virtual public sphere as well.Particularly,it strengthens the correspondence between real and virtual public sphere.In this paper,the publicness weakening phenomenon of virtual space in network is investigated from three dimensions:personality,community and intimacy autocracy by taking Richard Sennett's "public" theory as pointcut.The complicated real life gradually makes the public crave intimate affective interactions.The intimacy autocracy based on network enlarges the space of affective interactions and public life for the public,furthermore,vague the boundary between private life and public life,so that the public's self-emotion can be fully displayed in network virtual space and would be possible for personality's invasion into public sphere and non-rational thinking about public affairs.The pursuit of intimate affective interaction simultaneously carries along with the aggregation of homogenized public in the virtual space of network and collective personality of network community formed by "group polarization" effect.Governed by collective personality,the public are indulged in the affective interaction and personality cultivation among homogenized group,satisfied with their own emotional release but ignoring the communication with heterogenous group.The individual personality of the public and community's collective personality spread without restraint in the virtual space of network,dispelling the existing publicness of life pattern.Briefly speaking,in the formation and development of virtual space in network,the manifestation and connotation of publicness are going to be enriched and reinforced to some extent.However,due to the existence of the public's narcissistic personality and intimate autocracy,emotional speeches and non-rational thinking inevitably exist in network community,leading to situations like emotional release,cyber-violence and canard of internet which results in phenomenon of publicness weakness of virtual space in network.Aimed at the reduction phenomenon,I deem that the perfection can be implemented from three aspects:firstly,improve the public's media literacy and intensify their rational thinking ability about public affairs;secondly,reinforce the construction of virtual space in network and build a favorable information spreading atmosphere;thirdly,organize the government's mechanism of public communication and the development of public opinions under the proper guidance.
