Museum’s construction and operation as a symbol of national development, all over the world, countries are committed to improve its education function. Under the new normal, China’s economy is in a steady development period, national awareness of culture and social life promotes, different form and nature of local art museum is constructing. As one of the major functions of museums, public art education also becomes a hot topic in China. In the museum development process, the American museum becomes the world model of art museum operations and public art education because of its development trend and business philosophy. The study that public art education concept of China museum how to take example by the American model, is not only beneficial to expand and enrich the theory study of the museum of public art education in China, but also has a practical guiding significance of the practice of public art education in China.Through the analysis of the contemporary American museum public art education generalization, the public nature of contemporary American museum borns of contemporary American history background, it mainly includes communism, openness and participation. Under the public nature, public art education in the United States has developed into a universal, scientific, diversified, high-level education system. Based on different function and position, rich American museum education mode and the unique atmosphere of education continued to deepen, and shows the following characteristics:less government intervention education main body, the clear public art education function, high attention to audience satisfaction, the attention to diversification raining of educator and so on.Through the analysis of the contemporary China’s museum public art education generalization found that the demand for public education people for museum’s public education is increasing, in contrast, China’s public education museum is more as the ideological tool, less from the perspective of ordinary people to consider the business education, and the museum education system has not yet constructed completely. Through comparison study of public art museum between China and American,we found that because of the difference of social status, funding sources, and cultural background between Chinese museum and Americans museum, public art education of Chinese museum has huge development space in the importance, development degree, and social cooperation.Public art education as an important content of contemporary museum work, gradually evolved into an integral part of China’s public art museum education.China should use American model as reference and experience, museum subject and other subject should create a favorable environment for the development of public art education of museum. Specific enlightenment is as follows:museum should expand public art education idea, train professional team, enrich interpretation method, carry out a variety of public art education promotion activities and establish development perspective of audience as the center, etc. In addition, government should strengthen the importance of public art education of museum, Chinese museum association should push industry convergence of public art education, school, community and other institutions should strengthen public art education cooperation with the museum, the public should improve the aesthetic level of the public art.
