Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of Da Quan Bao Guang San,a Chinese medicine prescription,we observed the effect of Da Quan Bao Guang San vapotherapy on symptoms(dry eye,eye itching, foreign body sensation, burning sensation, photophobia, and score and swollen eye),lacrimal secretion, tear break up time, fluorescein and corneal sensation of patients with diabetic xerophthalmia. Methods: Seventy outpatients and hospitalized patients who met diabetic xerophthalmia diagnostic criteria at our hospital from June 2016 to September 2017 were selected for this study.Patients were divided into the treatment group and control group by randomized single blind method, with 35 patients in each group.Patients in the two groups were treated with basic treatment. In addition, sodium hyaluronate eye drops and blank vapotherapy were used in the control group, and Da Quan Bao Guang San vapotherapy was performed in the treatment group, with a treatment course of 12 days. After the treatment, the symptoms before and after the treatment, lacrimal secretion, tear break up time, fluorescein and corneal sensation between the two groups were compared and analyzed.Statistical analysis of data was carried out by SPSS19.0 software.Results:1.After treatment 5 of 70 patients lost contact.According to the observation of 65 patients, the basic data of the two groups before the treatment were comparable, with no significant difference(P?0.05).Total effective rate in the control group was 50%,treatment group 66.7%,and there was a significant difference(P?0.05),indicating total clinical efficacy of Da Quan Bao Guang San was better than that of sodium hyaluronate eye drops.2.Subjective evaluation of symptoms: symptoms in the two groups after the treatment improved(P?0.05).Compared with the control group, dry eye,eye itching, burning sensation, and score and swollen eye in the treatment group were significantly improved(P?0.05),and there was no significant different in the improvement of foreign body sensation and photophobia(P?0.05).It explained that Da Quan Bao Guang San was more advantageous to the improvement of clinical symptoms compared with sodium hyaluronate eye drops.3.Comparison of physical signs: after the treatment both groups had the increased quantity of lacrimal secretion, prolonged tear break up time, decreased fluorescein coloring points(P?0.05).The improvement of fluorescein in the treatment group was more obvious than that in the control group, with a significant difference(P?0.05).It showed Da Quan Bao Guang San had better efficacy in the improvement of physical signs than sodium hyaluronate eye drops.4.There was no adverse reaction and adverse event during the treatment. Conclusions: Da Quan Bao Guang San vapotherapy on diabetic xerophthalmia with stagnated heat and blood stasis of liver and stomach could significantly improve patients’ clinical symptoms and ocular surface physical signs with no adverse reaction and adverse event occurrence, which demonstrating that it was safe and effective of Da Quan Bao Guang San vapotherapy in the treatment of diabetic xerophthalmia. |
