Objective:To understand the knowledge and current status discrimination on HIV/AIDS among the health care workers of three hospitals in Nanchang City;To explore the influencing factors of HIV/AIDS knowledge and discrimination among medical personnel;To propose prevention corresponding measures and control strategies for government,and provide more effective AIDS health education and intervention measures for relevant departments.Methods:This study is a cross-sectional survey using convenient sampling methods to collect 1,600 medical staff from three hospitals in Nanchang City.The survey was conducted using self-made medical staff AIDS knowledge and discrimination attitude questionnaires.All data uses Epidata 3.1 software for double entry of data.SPSS 21.0 software was used for statistical analysis.Single factor analysis and binary logistic regression analysis were used to screen out the influencing factors of HIV/AIDS knowledge and discriminatory attitude among medical personnel in the hospital in Nanchang City.Results:(1)The survey collected 1,521 valid questionnaires,of which 501 males and 1,020 females,with an average age of 32.14±9.48 depended on the questions.The total awareness rate of HIV/AIDS-related knowledge among medical personnel was 65.67%.The question with the lowest accuracy rate was: “After the occupational exposure of HIV,what is the best time for medication preventive ?” It was only 14.66%;the question with the highest accuracy was “Is it right that persistent use of condoms possible to reduce the risk of HIV infection?” The right rate was 95.53%.(2)Univariate Logistic regression revealed that gender,marital status,education level,occupational division of labor,age,medical time,exposure risk whether or not training was an influential factor for AIDS related knowledge among medical personnel.The multivariate logistic stepwise regression analysis found that males,high academic qualifications,long working years,training,and Clinicians have a high level of AIDS knowledge,the staff which in rear service personnel and administrative positions have a low level of awareness.(3)A total of 16 questions were related to AIDS-related discrimination attitudes.The survey display 636 people had AIDS discrimination scores that more than 32 points;AIDS discrimination rate was 41.81%;The test questions that “the people who are not well-educated likely to be infected with HIV” was the highest discriminatory that the response was 41.49%.“Medical workers who treat or care for HIV-positive patients should be treated like other patients.” Discriminatory responses was the lowest 18.47%.(4)A single factor comparison of discrimination rates among different characteristics of the population shows: different gender,marital status,education level,occupational division of labor,age,exposure risk,training,job satisfaction,family birth,knowing "AIDS Prevention Regulations” and sympathetic to PLWHA which have a significant difference in HIV/AIDS discrimination among medical personnel(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that medical staff with low awareness of HIV/AIDS,nurses,medical technology,logistics,administrative posts,low academic qualifications,high risk of exposure,rural areas,unsatisfied jobs,and not sympathy with AIDS patients were more easily AIDS discrimination occurs.Conclusion:(1)The health care workers still have a certain lack of understanding of certain AIDS knowledge,especially the lack of knowledge about occupational exposure protection of AIDS,and it is necessary to further strengthen the AIDS-related knowledge training and assessment work to improve the overall awareness of AIDS related knowledge among medical personnel.(2)The health care workers still have a certain degree of discrimination against PLWHA.It is necessary to increase the anti-discrimination education of the medical personnel,the second is the training of the protection knowledge about the AIDS occupational exposure,and the professional moral education of the medical personnel should be strengthened,thereby reducing the discrimination degree of the medical personnel to the PLWHA. |
