Medical English is one of the most important nursing courses in nursing school.Nursing students should not only master professional knowledge,but also should have basic English ability including listening,speaking,reading and writing.The medical English teaching must meet the students individual needs and socially actual demand.Therefore,the medical English teaching is aimed to emphasize practical communicative competence of English and cultivate the students' ability of practical English application in workplace.Task-based language teaching provides learners the circumstance of carrying out communicative task chain and requires learners to use target language to complete a series of tasks.In the process of completing the task,it is useful for students to cultivate their divergent thinking,to broaden their view of knowledge and to improve their ability of communication in English.There is a long researching history of Task-based language teaching mode in the teaching of basic English,but it is not widely used in medical English teaching,neither in theoretical analysis.In view of this,the author will try to put the task-based teaching method into practical use to explore the path of medical English teaching and carry on empirical research in order to verify the hypothesis that the task-based teaching model is better than other teaching models in the teaching and improving medical English.The purpose of validating assumption is to adapt the characteristics of the medical English teaching according to task-based language teaching pattern and figure out for the new way of medical English education reform.Heilongjiang nursing school where author teaches is a typical secondary vocational school.The experiment will be based on the total of 120 students from Heilongjiang secondary vocational nursing school.This paper consists of six parts: The first part introduces the research background,the writing purpose,the significance and the methods of research.The second part expounds the previous stage of medical English study and the concepts and characters of medical English.Furthermore,it also describes a brief overview of medical English teaching;The third part introduces the teaching material,teaching outline,teaching methods and the characters of student to expound medical English teaching in our school;The fourth part introduces the task-based teaching method whose characters are suitable for characteristics of secondary medical English teaching and it also provides the process and path of implementing the task-based teaching method.The fifth part introduces task-based teaching method in the experiment of teaching medical English.The last part summarize the problems existing in the implementation of task-based teaching method.
