| Objective:To determine the relationship between the patent ductus arteriosus in preterm infants and platelet indices. Methods:A 1:1 matched nested case-control study was conducted. From May 2016 to January 2017,33 preterm infants with PDA were chosen to PDA group, and 33 non-PDA preterm infants were chosen as controls, who had the corresponding gestational age and similar birth weight. All data were analyzed via SPSS 22.0.Results:The study showed there is no differences between the PDA group and the control group in demographic characteristics and influence factors for platelet indices. The first mean level of platelet counts in PDA group was 200.00±51.73×109/L,mean platelet volume was 10.00±0.58 f L,and platelet distribution width was 10.65~12.15 f L,The second mean level of platelet counts in PDA group was 232.15±44.56×109/L,mean platelet volume was 9.76±0.68 f L,and platelet distribution width was 9.30~11.30 fl.The first two were significantly lower than control group respectively. The conditional logistic regression analysis showed that higher platelet distribution width was risk factor for PDA in preterm infants(OR=2.418).The second adjusted mean level and 95% confidence interval of platelet counts in PDA and control group were 202.36×109/L(183.66~221.06×109/L)and 217.07/L(198.37~235.77×109/L),respectively.There was no significant difference between two groups(P=0.305).Conclusion:The higher platelet distribution width is associated with PDA in preterm infants. The platelet indices are not affected by PDA. |
