The Analysis On The Patent Status Of Antidiabetes Drugs At Home And Abroad

Objective:This thesis aims to sort out antidiabetic drug patents both in China and internation,and to make a comparative analysis.From the perspective of patent applicants,it is learned that the current status of research and development of antidiabetic drugs,and explore their technological trends,so as to provide valuable competitive intelligence and decision support for domestic pharmaceutical enterprises and drug research and development personnel.Methods:The data were retrieved from Chinese Patent database and Derwent Innovation Index database.the paper analyzes the overall evolution of the patent information of anti diabetic drugs in China and internation by using the patent analysis method and combined with the relevant knowledge of pharmacy,and compares the main patent applicants.The competition situation in each technical field is explored according to the analysis of the competitiveness of the main patent applicants in China.The competition in each region is explored according to the analysis of the patent layout of the main international patent applicants.Analyzing the trend of application and patent hotspot about applicants in China and internation to provide reference for domestic pharmaceutical companies.Results:(1)The patent applications for antidiabetic drugs are increasing year by year in China,while there has been a dramatic increase in applications since 2005,and the growth rate was 35.95% compared with 2004.Domestic applications are mainly based on the applicant’s independent application which account for more than 70%,while for the cooperation is mainly the joint application of the two applicants.There are 8 local applicants and 2 large multinational pharmaceutical enterprises whose name are HOFF and NOVS among the top 10 domestic applicants.In recent three years,the amount of patent applications for Foshan Weiss Pharmaceutical Technology Co Ltd accounted for the highest proportion of total patent applications,which is 100%,followed is China Pharmaceutical University reaching 30.85%.(2)International patent applications have declined slightly in recent years,but the number of the application is still large.During 1989-2013 years,the application for antidiabetic drugs was mainly based on cooperative applications,accounting for more than50%,and its proportion was flat with independent applications until 2013.Cooperative applications mainly are three joint applications whose proportion is higher than 40%.Major international applications was large multinational pharmaceutical companies,and they has 5456 accounted for 14.33% of the total patent applications.Conclusions:(1)From the overall trend of evolution,China’s patent applications are substantially lower than the international patent applications.International patent application has matured,while the number of patent applications in China showed a rising trend in volatility,and the pace of development is slower than the international application trends.Patent application in China gives priority to independent application,while the international patent focus on cooperative application,which showing the trend of the joint application of the two applicants.The patent applications mainly focused to traditional Chinese medicine,polypeptide,compounds and related derivatives in China,while the international patent is more focused on peptide compounds,heteroaryl compounds and related derivatives,compositions,enzyme inhibitors and etc.(2)As for the applicants in China,Beijing Lvyuanqiuzheng Technology Development Co Ltd,Shanghai bode Gene Development Co Ltd and Foshan Weiss Pharmaceutical Technology Co Ltd have their own team of experts and a large number of patent applications,and they have certain development strength.China Pharmaceutical University and Fudan University are the two national key universities.C12N15,A61K31 and A61K36 are the main technical fields in China.Beijing Yixintang Pharmaceutical Research Institute and Yu Neixun,Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica and China Pharmaceutical University are similar in layout of technology in the field,and the competition is obvious.At the same time,the comprehensive competitive strength of Foshan Weiss Pharmaceutical Technology Co Ltd and China Pharmaceutical University are very strong for comprehensive competitive.(3)As for the international patent applicants,the gap of patent quantity is rare,and competition is fierce.America,Switzerland and England hold a favourable technological advantage.Large multinational pharmaceutical companies have obvious advantages,and MERI,SNFI and HOFF occupy most of the resources in this field.The main applicants pay more attention to the European market and American market,and attention of SNFI,NOVS,HOFF and ASTR for Chinese market is great.
